It was the day finally, everything was going according to plan, the only thing was, Helios wouldn’t leave my side for a moment, even when he had other important things to do.
“you know you can leave right?” I told him for the millionth time.
“I know” he said smiling and looking at me a certain way.
“then go” I said trying to hide the laugh that was about to come out
“I would prefer not to.” He looked like, a love sick puppy and I honestly wanted to use a pillow to press his neck.
“Helios! I am about to put my dress on so unless you want to see me naked!” my face getting hotter as I said it. the way he looked at me was one thing I could not get over.
“I would like to apologise, but I don’t think I would mind it if you were to be nude in front of me. It would definitely make the process of wanting to push you against the wall and have my wicked way with you so much more easier” I shoved him, which didn’t do much given that I was small compared to him.
“leave” I said despite the way my body was about to catch fire from how much I was blushing. It also didn’t help that Constance
was in the room.
He finally stood up and left, leaving me alone with my thoughts, which by the way were not any better.
The maids, including Constance brought the dress I was going to wear, it was a beautiful red dress that was strapless at the top and flowing at the down, a ball gown. I didn’t actually bother to look much into the details of the cloth, I trusted the seamstress and she seemed to really know her stuff.
“you look gorgeous” she said looking at me with proud eyes.

“you know it really does bring out your skin colour a lot, maybe He-
“not today!” I scolded which didn’t even seem to do much to her as she laughed leaving me alone with the other maids.
I looked down at the bracelet that was on my wrist. I felt bad for wearing it, but I didn’t feel like I could function properly without
- it.
Just for this night.
But tonight, I needed to be there for Helios. I looked at the necklace on my neck. Somehow since Helios gave me, I never brought myself to take it off.
“would you like to take it off your grace” one of the maids asked me since I had being staring at it for a while now.
“the dress would look better without it, would it not?” I said, playing with it a bit.
“indeed” she nodded. I let her remove the necklace, feeling the magic stop its usual buzz leaving me empty.
I had gotten so used to his magic on me that I didn’t even know it was doing anything, save for the times it actually worked, startling me in the process because I was not aware. I looked at the necklace at it was placed on the table of my dresser.
It felt wrong. Like it did not belong there.

Although in didn’t know at first, Helios had given it to me to protect me.
I shook my head to stop the over thinking. There was nothing that was going to happen. Whoever wanted to attack again after the
first time would be a fool.
After the small pep talk I gave myself, I paced around the room just waiting for Helios or someone to come and lead the to the ball room because I was definitely not going alone,
“the guests have arrived, are you ready?” his deep velvety voice brought me out of the panicked state I was in.
I nodded, wiping my hands on my dress to reduce the sweating of my palms.
“what is wrong?” he said looking at me with those observant eyes.
“what if they don’t like me? what if they don’t accept me as their queen? I mean I would not even accept me as anyone if I had the chance. What if I trip on my dress and fall? What if I am the ugliest in the room? I mean you’ve said it before, there are other prettier girls in the kingdom than me. What if one catches your attention tonight? Your mum would be here, right?” I wanted to curse out because I had let that one slip, he was not supposed to know that I know since he had not told me about it yet.
Way to be creepy lucia. I didn’t miss the surprised look on my face when I said it, but he said nothing about that. Instead, he took my hands in his and looked me straight in the eye, and he didn’t start talking until he was sure that I was looking at nobody but
him.
They would love you, and accept you because in these few months, I have grown to do the same with you” I felt the tip if my ears get red again. I wanted to correct him, to let him know what he meant by that but I ignored it.
There was no need to bring that up now maybe another time.
“and trust me, if you fall I would fall with you, that way, we get to be the center of attraction if we aren’t already” I laughed using my other hand to cover my mouth as I did. “and lastly, you don’t need to be the most beautiful because if I had the opportunity to choose a mate, I would choose you again”
I smiled. It might have been the way he way he didn’t try to tell me that I was the most beautiful girl, because that would have been a lie. I knew I was beautiful, but the most beautiful would be stretch.
Or it might have been the way he reassured me that I was his one. Choosing me every opportunity he would have. Either way, the words he used and how it registered in my head made me want to jump this man right on the spot.
He kissed my forehead and this time, it was more than butterflies that were in my stomach
