Chapter 52
Third person p.o.v
“you need to get out of here, now.” He was starting to loose his cool again.
“you seem to have forgotten who you are peasant” his father snarled. Helios always knew that he was not the most favoured and he always tried to stay in his in his place.
“And it seems you have forgotten you are talking to your KING, father” that seemed to shut him up for a moment. He wasn’t expecting him to reply back.
It was moments like this where he reminded Helios about his place that he seemed to keep quiet, so talking back at him was new. One he did not know how to react to.
“have you forgotten who have you all these? And yet you dare! You dare to speak to me this way!” He looked mad, like he was ready to explode.
1
Helios schooled his expression, careful to not let his facial reaction show what he was genuinely feeling. He wasn’t going to give his father that satisfaction.
“You would do well to take it from me, only if you are able to beat me. Until then, I wish not to see you as I am busy with my mate.” He turned around going closer to Lucia to grab a hold of it.
It was an awkward encounter for Emily. She was their father’s favourite, his pet if you willed. He never had any ill feeling towards her and it was like she was stabbing him in
the back. (1
“why don’t we stabilise her first them we get to talk?” she said trying to clear the tension from the air with an awkward smile and posture.
It was a futile attempt. Her father looked at her with hate. One she had never seen directed her way before. She was the golden child. One that could do no wrong in their fathers eyes and now he looked at her like she was something different.
“him I would expect this show of weakness and disappointment. But I thought I raised you better.” The anger In which he said it made her take a step back. “daddy” she
muttered.

Chapter 52
He might not have been the best father, but to her, he was her world. That statement alone shattered her from the inside out. She watched as Her father left as tears rolled
down her eyes.
She felt all alone, scared even. What if her father never saw her the same way again, what if she was cast aside just like her brother. She would never admit it out loud but she was always afraid that a day would come that her father would turn on her.
He wanted his children to be weak and she was neither emotionally or physically strong.
She feared that one day he would stop pampering her and treat her the Same way she did
her brother. What if that time was now?
“Emily” Helios thought, snapping her out of her thoughts. “I am sorry I had to drag you into this mess” and he looked genuinely sorry.
She shook her head forcing out a laugh. “it’s fine, he does like this sometimes. You know dad, always trying to teach everyone how to act” she rolled her eyes, actively looking away from Helios. 1
Helios knew she was lying but said nothing. There wasn’t much he could do. He loved his sister but didn’t think he could help her with that.
Emily hated the pity eyes he was given her, so she changed the subject. Anything was better than talking about their dad who may or may not care for her anymore.
“I saw your mum at the event today, how was she, we didn’t get a chance to speak because of you know…” she looked over to Lucia briefly before looking back at him.
“She is fine.” He gave a distant smile “she seems to be doing better and it seems she has met someone. I am happy for her” she watched him watch Lucia who was laying on the
bed with a look of affection and fondness.
“I am really happy you met her when you did.” Emily said with a bit of envy. It was getting More and more lonely for her as she had no one to turn to.
“you don’t think I am weird? For being the first of our kind to have a mate?” Emily looked
at him like it was the dumbed thing he could ever say.
“Of course not! Why would it be weird? You got lucky. You get to spend forever with

someone by your side. Someone destined to love you unconditionally. Something you get to have that others dont” the drop in her voice hinted at something for Helios, but he again chose not to say anything.
“thank you Em. You know, Its scary. I always wonder, what if I mess things up. And honestly, it’s starting to look like I already am. I am so used to shutting everyone out I don’t know if I can let her in. And then my emotions. They seem to grow rapidly I can’t control them. And then I can’t look weak. I have to be this person who she can come to
when ever and know that I can handle them” he looked at his sister. He knew he was
telling the right person his problems.
They had this bond growing up, when he was new to the Palace, the only person that
seemed to care at all about him was her. She didn’t care that his mum was a “Peasant” to
her, he was just another one of her siblings and she cared for him.
“You know you can be strong for her and still be vulnerable with her, it’s part of the
things that make you grow your bond stronger.” She smiled at him, enjoying the serene
environment as they waited for Lucia to wake up.
It was quickly interrupted as she started to shake violently on the bed.
