chapter 72
Lucia stood frozen in the moonlit garden, her heart pounding in her chest like a caged bird. The moment Prince Adrian kissed her felt like a dream. Not the good kind where she would be overjoyed.
No, it was a nightmare. But now, as the reality of her actions sank in, guilt washed over
her like a torrential wave.
She started to go into panic mode. She should have just listened to Helios.
She should have stayed back
For a few seconds, she allowed herself to savour the warmth of his lips against hers, the
electric tingle that shot through her veins. But then, the weight of her conscience crashed
down upon her. She had betrayed her mate, her growing love for him, everything.
Images of Helios flashed before her eyes – his smiles, the way he looked at her like she was the only person in the world when she was talking. She could almost hear his voice in this situation, gentle yet firm, drawing out her name in a lazy way. Lucia had always
tried to show that she loved Helios and was certain that she was in love with Helios and
yet, in one reckless moment, she had thrown it all away.
The sound of her own heartbeat thundered in her ears, drowning out the distant melody
of the palace ball or at least what was left of it since everyone had gone back to rest, save for the few who wanted to party. She took a step back, looking at him with disbelief.
“we… “her mouth suddenly felt too dry, her saliva felt like sand “we shouldn’t be doing this” she rushed out that you almost couldn’t make any words from it. “you shouldn’t have kissed me!” she yelled into the night as her vision got blurry a bit.
“then you would not have been here if you did not want it” he gave a devilish smile.
She reached out for support, grasping onto the nearest pillar as her vision blurred and the
world spun around her. Panic clawed at her throat, threatening to choke her. What was
happening to her? Was this some punishment?
As the darkness closed in around her, Lucia’s last coherent thought was of Prince Adrian the man whose kiss had ignited this tempest of guilt within her.

chapter 72
Her mind flashed to Helios.
She had never meant to betray him this way. How could she face him now, knowing that
she had betrayed his trust as well?
Then her mind raced to different things.
Would he even care?
Was he going to be jealous because he more than cared for her or it was going to be that
other way around.
“what is happening to me?” I looked at the prince who had a wicked smile on his face.
“my sister would be so proud of this. Good night lucia” he laughed going to grab her.
There was a blast from her necklace but it was not enough to do enough damage, only distract him for a moment. As the weakness engulfed her body, Lucia couldn’t run very far
before she was on the floor in a matter of seconds.
“I would see you on the other side”
HELIOS P.O.V (before Lucia went to meet prince Adrian)
His mind was at war. He was so close to losing everything he had spent almost a century to build. He knew this from the start, but he thought somehow, he would be lucky, that the goddess would spare him from the curse placed on his kind, but alas, he was wrong.
His powers had started declining. He could feel himself getting weaker and weaker by the
moment. He dreaded what that would mean if anyone found out. He was most vulnerable at this point.
He did not know how to act.
He looked down at his skin. It was getting colour, a sign that his powers were leaving, his
hair was not as grey anymore.
He closed his eyes, saying a quick prayer and hoping that it was not obvious.
“you are all done, your grace.” His butler said, he smiled at him.

He nodded his Head as a silent thank you for the work he had done.
He marched down to Lucia’s chambers, panicking on the new discovery, if anything was to go down this evening, he wasn’t sure he would be able to protect her adequately.
“your grace!” the butler said running after him, causing him to stop, allowing him to
match up to him. He handed the paper, bowing. “pardon me, it came amidst the
preparations, I didn’t have the time to give it to you” he nodded, taking the paper from
him.
It was sealed, showing that it had not yet been open.
He sighed before he opened it, hoping that it was not going to be something that would
ruin his mood.
And by the goddess, it was at the end something that could have ruined the mood he was
- in.
“fuck” he said wanting to punch something. It was from the rebels.
We are watching. Deliver up the queen or give up the throne‘ It had read. They were not letting up that easily, were they? He bit his lips, holding in his anger as he did not want to ruin her coronation any more than it was already ruined
He thought as he looked at the words written on the paper over and over again.
He knew this was going to happen sooner or later, but he had honestly thought it would happen later, when he had settled everything with powers.
“thank you” he mumbled as he walked out the place and towards the chamber of his
mate,
“ready?” he asked as his mile was going a mile per. He looked at him mate. She was the only thing that made sense at this point, and he knew one thing for sure, he was going to be damned if he let anything or anyone touch a single hair on her head in the wrong way.
