Lucia stirred, her mind still cloaked in the comforting embrace of sleep. Slowly, consciousness seeped into her awareness like tendrils of mist creeping over the landscape at dawn. But as her senses began to awaken, she realized something was amiss.
The room was unfamiliar, devoid of the opulent furnishings and warm hues of Helios‘ castle. Instead, the air felt cold and stale, suffused with a strange tension that prickled at her skin. The necklace buzzed, waking her up completely. Panic surged within her chest, chasing away the remnants of sleep as she bolted upright.
“Where am I?” she whispered, her voice barely audible in the dimness of the chamber.
Her eyes adjusted to the gloom, revealing the contours of her surroundings. It was a stark room, its walls adorned with intricate tapestries that seemed to whisper secrets of bygone eras. A single window, covered by heavy drapes, cast faint shadows across the floor, painting the room in shades of gray.
As Lucia’s gaze darted around the room, her heart skipped a beat when she spotted a figure standing in the corner, shrouded in darkness. Instinctively, she recoiled, her muscles tensing in anticipation of danger.
“Who’s there?” she demanded, her voice trembling with a mixture of fear and defiance.
A soft chuckle echoed through the room, sending a shiver down Lucia’s spine. The figure stepped forward, stepping into the feeble light that filtered through the window. It was a woman, her features obscured by the dimness, but there was no mistaking the predatory gleam in her eyes.
“Camille,” Lucia breathed, her heart sinking as recognition dawned upon her. Camille, her
ex–mate’s mate, the one she had hoped never to encounter again.
The woman smirked, her lips twisting into a cruel smile as she appraised Lucia with an unsettling intensity. “Surprised to see me, darling?”
Lucia’s mind raced, scrambling to make sense of her predicament. How had she ended up
here, in the clutches of her former rival? Had Camille orchestrated her abduction, or was
there some other force at play?
‘I don’t understand,” Lucia muttered, her voice strained with confusion. “What do you

want from me?”
Camille’s smile widened, revealing a flash of gleaming teeth that seemed to glint in the
dim light. “Oh, darling, I want everything,” she purred, her voice dripping with malice.
“Your power, your position, your very essence. And I intend to take it all. I mean its only
fair since you have taken mine”
A surge of dread washed over Lucia as she realized the depth of the danger she was in.
As Lucia’s eyes swept across the opulent ballroom, she couldn’t shake the uneasy feeling that had settled in her gut. Something was amiss, she could feel it in the air, a tension
thick enough to cut with a knife. Her gaze lingered on the shadowed corners, where
secrets often lurked.
Then, amidst the panic of seeing the woman in front of her, her heart skipped a beat.
There, standing in the farthest corner of the room, was Prince Adrian, his piercing gaze fixed on he. He looked like he knew something that she didn’t. Lucia’s breath caught in her throat as she recalled the moments they had shared, the guilt coming back in double

As Lucia looked at Prince Adrian from where she was sitting, she tried to mask her

that they won, but his expression remained inscrutable. “Lucia,” he greeted her with a nod, his voice low yet commanding.
He greeted her like he was seeing her for the first time.
“Prince Adrian,” Lucia replied, her voice barely above a whisper, her eyes darting between
him and Camille, who stood nearby, her features carefully composed.
Before Lucia could utter another word, the truth hit her like a bolt of lightning. It all
