chapter 76
Constance entered, Lucia’s room, feeling a bit drained as she was yet to see Lucia after the ball. There had been a bigger mess than usual from the ball and she barely got time to herself through the night.
“my lady, how has been your..” she stopped short at the perfectly laid bed, the mess from the dressing up on the night of the ball, everything.
It was as though the queen had not slept in her room.
She rushed out of the room, unsure of what to do.
As Constance went about her tasks, her heart weighed down by the dreadful news of
Lucia’s disappearance, a knot of fear twisted in her stomach. it had been two days and she
had asked around not anyone had seen the queen, and each passing moment only
deepened the sense of foreboding that gripped the castle.
Unable to bear the weight of her fears alone, Constance resolved to seek an audience with
King Helios, hoping he would be able to do something. With trembling hands and a heavy
heart, she made her way to the throne room, her footsteps echoing in the silent corridors
like a dirge for the absent queen. She wondered what Helios would think, she only hoped
as she went that Helios would be rational about it.
As she entered the grand chamber, her eyes fell upon King Helios, his regal form seated upon the throne, his brow furrowed with concern. The weight of his gaze bore down upon
Constance, filling her with a sense of trepidation.
“any reason you barge in here like that?” his form was rigid and his eyes fiery like he was ready to strike her.
“Your Majesty,” Constance’s voice was barely above a whisper as she approached, her heart pounding in her chest like a drumbeat of dread. “Forgive me for intruding, but I come to you with news of grave import.”
King Helios’s gaze softened as he regarded Constance, he always had a soft spot for her and it was obvious why. “Speak, Constance,” he said gently, his voice a soothing balm to
her troubled soul. “What troubles you?”
With a deep breath to steady her nerves, Constance recounted the dreadful truth of

Lucia’s disappearance, each word heavy with sorrow and apprehension.
“it’s Lucia” The king’s expression darkened as his mind went back to the night of the ball.
“her room.. it, it …” she closed her eyes to think of a possible way to bring out such
information.
“Constance speak!!” he said unable to control his anxiousness.
She jumped from the fright, bowing her head. “it has not been touched your grace, the room is in the exact same state as it was left on the night of the ball” he froze, his thoughts racing with the implications of his mate’s absence.
“she is not in her room” he said aloud, his body rumbling as he thought of the possibility of her staying with the damned prince since that night.
Constance nodded, her heart aching with the weight of her shared concern. “Yes, Your Majesty,” she replied, her voice trembling with emotion. “But where could she have gone? And why?” D
King Helios’s jaw clenched, barely keeping himself together
“I think you should leave Constance, Lucia knows the way home if she ever wants to”
“bu …” she blinked rapidly, barely believing her ears as she thought he was going to go on a rampage on hearing the news. “my lord, did you not hear me? She might be missing, we have to go look for her, goddess knows what must have happened to that poor child by
now, I am just so…”
“Constance! Leave me alone, I need a moment to myself” he paced up and down the
room
“but my…”
“leave!!!” he roared.

Constance paced back and forth in her chambers, her mind in a whirlwind of confusion and disbelief. The disappearance Lucia had left her in a state of shock, but what baffled Constance the most was King Helios’s seemingly unbothered demeanour. The way he

acted baffled her to no ends.
She had watched him closely, searching for any sign of distress or worry, but his expression remained stoic, switching to angry. It was as if he had already accepted Lucia’s disappearance as an inevitable fate, a mere inconvenience rather than a cause for alarm.
Unable to shake off her growing unease, Constance sought solace in the castle gardens, hoping the tranquil surroundings would offer some clarity. But with each step she took, the weight of uncertainty bore down on her shoulders, suffocating her with its suffocating
grip.
As she wandered aimlessly among the lush greenery, her thoughts drifted back to the last
time she had seen. Lucia was more than the person she was meant to guide. She had
started to see her as her daughter, her confidante, and her friend. The bond they shared
was one of deep trust and understanding, and the suddenness of her disappearance left
Constance feeling utterly lost.
And then, just as she was about to give in to despair, a commotion erupted from the
direction of the castle gates. Constance’s heart leaped into her throat as she hurried back
to the castle, her pulse racing with a mixture of fear and anticipation.
As she reached the courtyard, she saw a group of guards carrying King Helios, his usually imposing figure now limp and lifeless in their arms. Panic surged through Constance as she rushed to his side, her hands trembling as she reached out to touch his forehead.
“Helios, what happened?” she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
But there was no answer, only the sound of her own ragged breaths echoing in the silence. And as she looked into his vacant eyes, Constance realized with a sinking heart that the truth was far worse than she had feared.
King Helios had fainted.
With a strangled cry, Constance sank to her knees beside him, her mind reeling with disbelief. How could this be happening? And what did it mean for the fate of their kingdom?
As she cradled Helios’s head in her arms, a single thought echoed in her mind, sending a shiver down her spine

if any one knew about this, they could see it as a sign that Helios‘ power was declining
and then would attack.
