The Wolf and the Fae
chapter 77- regret and discoveries
Adrian looked at Lucia like a predator would look at its prey.
Lucia didn’t like it, her mind raced at the look he gave her. She wanted to be far away from him as possible but that seemed to be impossible as she was chained and it burned.
“I can help you, you know” he said in that low deceiving voice. She scoffed, her mind wondering to her mate. She wondered why Helios hadn’t found her yet.
It never took him this long to find her when she was in trouble before.
“I need nothing from you?”
“not even to save you from this?” he took a step towards her, looking at her with a daunting look.
“I don’t need saving from you!” I snapped, “my mate would be getting me out of here sooner you think! I don’t need anything from you.
“”

He looked at her for a moment before laughing out loud. He laughed for a good minute, almost rolling on the floor before he stopped.
“and yet he isn’t here, isn’t that strange?” the hate in her eyes were real. she wanted to wipe his smug smile on the floor. “you and I both know that if he wanted to find you, he would have by now, let me tell you, he isn’t coming to get you. You might as well give up what little hope you have.”
“you are lying, you’re nothing but a filthy liar” she said, chugging her hands from the chain and getting burned by the chains.
She hissed looking at him for further explanation.
“I am telling you darling, he wants nothing to do with you.” He said covering the space
between the two of them.
“especially” he bent so that he was to her level on the floor. “when he saw our lips dance so passionately that night” he said in a whisper, his lips slightly brushing hers.
She was frozen, at the mention of what he said, not even registering the fact that he was

that close to her, invading her personal space.
He pulled back, stroking her lips gently.
“too bad you are enemies with my sister, you would have been a perfect bed warmer” he looked at her suggestively.
“I’ll leave you to think about what I said, then maybe you would want my help” he smirked, looking at her as he left, slamming the door behind him.
Lucia sat in the dimly, the cold metal chains encircling her wrists, binding her to the
harsh reality of her actions. He had seen it. Helios had seen them.
She closed her eyes to shut out the shame she was feeling but it did nothing to help.
The events of that fateful night replayed in her mind like a haunting melody, each note filled with regret and spite at herself
But then, amidst the swirling dancers and whispered conversations, she had found herself drawn to Prince Adrian. His charming smile had ignited a spark within her, a forbidden desire that she struggled to contain. And in a moment of weakness, she had succumbed. She knew that night that there was a possibility of them doing more than just talking even when Helios warned her about it, but she loved the attention, the jealousy that was rolling off of Helios, the buzz of his magic filling her as his jealousy rose. And now..
She sighed.
She could only imagine his face when he saw them. Her heart broke at the thought.
“its not like he would even care, he wouldn’t mind it. its not like he saw me that way to see the betrayal as something deep” she told herself over and over to get rid of the guilt

Constance swept through the towering shelves of the palace library, her steps purposeful yet weighted with concern. The air was heavy with the scent of old parchment and dust, the faint glow of candlelight casting eerie shadows upon the rows of ancient tomes. She had been tasked with a daunting mission, one that weighed heavily on her heart

uncover the truth behind helios‘ fainting.
He was growing weaker by the hour, almost unbareable to watch.
Constance had spent countless hours among the musty pages of forgotten lore. Her knees ached and she had several paper cuts from the amount of pages she had flipped through.
“may I help you? I might be of help” the woman in charge of the library said coming to her. She closed the book she was holding, trying her possible best to cover the name of
the book as well.
No one must know, no one could know.
“no, I’s nothing of importance. Just had a lot of free time on my hand and decided to waste it here” she added a little smile to make it all the more convincing.
“oh, very well then”
Hours stretched into days as Constance delved deeper into the annals of history, her mind racing with possibilities and conjectures. She uncovered tales of long–forgotten maladies and ancient curses, each more chilling than the last. But amidst the sea of information,
one revelation stood out like a beacon in the darkness the bond between a vampire and their mate.
–
As the pieces of the puzzle began to fall into place, Constance’s heart clenched with a mixture of fear and dread. For she knew that such a bond was not to be taken lightly, its
power transcending the boundaries of life and death. And if what she suspected was true, then King Helios’s fate was inexorably tied to that of his mate, Lucia.
This should not have been a bad thing except she knew what that would mean.
With trembling hands, Constance traced her fingers over the faded words on the page, her
mind racing with the implications of her discovery. She knew that time was of the
essence, that every moment spent in ignorance was a moment wasted. And so, with
newfound resolve, she set out to confront the king, her heart heavy with the weight of the
truth she bore.
