chapter 86 rejection and power–1
Lucia looked at him, blank faced. They were in the middle of a fight, now was definitely not the right time for this.
“but you.. you said you love me?” she whispered, her voice barely heard with the
commotion
He pushed away, just in time before the crumbling walls around them hit her square in the head. He looked her in the face, smiling a bit.
“I love you, and that’s why I have to let you go” he stroked her cheeks before he let her go, turning to face the rebels.
His eyes turned white, he could feel the effects rejection as he felt his powers coming back to him rapidly. It was swift, the tiredness he felt was wiped off in an instance, but he felt a space where the mate bond usually laid. He closed his eyes, focusing mainly on his magic. He would have time later on to focus on the mate bond.
“”
‘so that’s it?” he heard Lucia mutter but again, he said and did nothing. His skin got paler and paler a sign that his magic was running through his veins as it was meant to, if not more than ususal.
At the heart of the chaos stood King Helios, his eyes ablaze with determination as he surveyed the battlefield from the balcony of his castle. His once peaceful kingdom now lay besieged by traitorous forces led by his own brother, Ermis. The revelation of Ermis’s betrayal had struck Helios like a thunderbolt, shattering his trust and igniting a fierce resolve within him.
He knew that it was only a matter of time before he would turn against him and he had already started suspected him for months
With a deep breath, Helios tapped into the depths of his magic, feeling its power surge through his veins like liquid fire. He had always known of his latent abilities, but now, faced with the gravest threat to his reign, he unleashed them with a newfound clarity and purpose.
As he stepped onto the battlefield, his presence seemed to command the very elements themselves. Flames danced at his fingertips, arcing towards his enemies with deadly

precision. Wind whipped around him, carrying his voice like a thunderous roar that rallied his loyal soldiers to his side.
The rebels, caught off guard by Helios’s unleashed power, faltered in their advance. But Ermis, his face twisted with hatred and defiance, refused to yield. With a chilling cry, he launched himself at his brother, his blade gleaming in the moonlight.
Helios met him head–on, their swords clashing with a deafening clang that echoed across the battlefield. Each blow was imbued with the weight of their shared history, a bitter reminder of the bond very fragile at the start had been torn asunder by greed and
ambition.
But as the duel raged on, Helios began to sense a darkness lurking within his brother, a corruption that tainted his every move. With a sinking heart, he realized the truth: Ermis had not merely been swayed by ambition; he had been consumed by it, seduced by promises of power and glory.
With a heavy heart, Helios redoubled his efforts, his swordsmanship fueled by a mixture of sorrow and resolve. He could not allow his brother’s treachery to go unpunished, nor could he allow the kingdom to fall into ruin it was all he had.
With a final, decisive blow, Helios disarmed Ermis, sending his brother sprawling to the ground at his feet. The battlefield fell silent, the clash of steel replaced by a tense stillness as all eyes turned to the fallen prince.
For a moment, there was only the sound of Helios’s ragged breaths, his heart heavy with the weight of his decision. But then, with a voice that trembled with emotion, he spoke.
“Ermis,” he said, his voice carrying across the battlefield like a lament, “brother, why have you done this?” he already knew the reason but he wanted to hear it regardless

chapter 86 rejection and power–2
Ermis looked up at him, his eyes haunted by regret and defiance. “For power,” he whispered, his voice barely audible above the din of battle. “For glory. For a kingdom that should have been mine, but then you fucking came! To make it worse the goddess gave you a mate! An abomination amongst us and yet you took it, as though that is not clear enough sign that you are not meant to be king”
Helios shook his head. “The kingdom was never ours to claim, Ermis,” he said, his voice choked with emotion. “It belongs to the people, to those who look to us for guidance and protection. And I will not let you destroy it.”
With those words, Helios reached out a hand to his fallen brother, offering him one last chance at redemption. But Ermis, consumed by his own pride and ambition, could only look away, his heart hardened by years of bitterness and resentment.
“you think you’ve won?” Ermis taunted. Laying on the floor badly injured from the fight. “with or without me involved, you are doomed brother, you know why? Because look around you, you know it deep within that you don’t belong here.” Helios said nothing, deciding not to give him the satisfaction of seeing his reaction.
The chaos of battle swirled around Lucia, engulfing her in a maelstrom of violence and fear. As the clash of swords and the roar of combat echoed through the air, she found herself caught in the midst of the fray, her heart pounding in her chest as she struggled to keep pace with the frenetic pace of the fight.
Beside her, the rebel who had captured her dragged her forward with a cruel grip, his eyes gleaming with malice as he reveled in her helplessness. But Lucia refused to surrender to despair, her spirit unbroken even in the face of overwhelming odds.
With a sudden burst of defiance, she wrenched herself free from her captor’s grasp, her eyes blazing with determination as she fought to break free from the chaos that threatened to consume her. But even as she struggled, a voice whispered in the back of her mind, a nagging doubt that gnawed at the edges of her consciousness.
Where was Helios?

The realization struck her like a physical blow, sending a chill coursing through her veins. Her mate, her beloved Helios, was out there somewhere, fighting for their kingdom and their future. But amidst the din of battle, she could not find him, could not even be sure if
he still drew breath.
Her mind went to how he had rejected her in the midst of the fight, causing her to loose

With a steely resolve, she fought on, her movements fluid and precise as she fended off her attackers with a skill born of necessity. But even as she held her ground, a sense of
dread lingered in the back of her mind, a foreboding sense of the danger that now
surrounded her.
And then, with a suddenness that took her breath away, the rebel leader appeared before her, his eyes ablaze with triumph as he seized her in his grasp once more. With a cruel smile, he leaned in close, his breath hot against her ear as he whispered words that
chilled her to the bone.
“Your mate may be a formidable warrior,” he sneered, “but even he cannot stand against the might of our forces. And when we are finished with him, you will have no choice but
to submit to our will.”
He pulled her out into the open, where Helios and Ermis stood.
“Lord Helios!” he yelled as he pulled Lucia rather roughly
