“There’s no need to talk anymore. He’s already signed the bonding severance agreement. If you want to persuade anyone, persuade him to finish the remaining procedures. From now on, he, the Winter family, and I are completely done.”
My tone was calm, as if I were talking about someone else’s affairs, not the bonding relationship that ended in bitter failure after my heartfelt devotion. I admit defeat, I don’t resent it, but I absolutely won’t forget the pain.
Henry fell silent for a long time on the other end of the line.“Come first. No matter what you decide, it’s not something you can accomplish on your own. In a bonding relationship, if one party doesn’t cooperate, nothing can be done. Ultimately, you both need to sit down and talk face–to–face, don’t you think?”
I didn’t respond.
Henry continued, “Just a meal. Nothing bad will happen. Give me some face.”
I considered carefully before finally agreeing.“Alright.”
I agreed not to give him respect; I’d left Horizon Group, and was about to sever the bond with his son; my future interactions with the Winters would be nonexistent. Showing him respect meant nothing to me. I agreed because I thought I might be able to persuade him to convince Jason to stop the pointless entanglement under the guise of business negotiations.
While I was on the phone, Liam overheard nearby. He anxiously came over to warn me, “What if it’s like last time, they lure you there to harm you? Be careful!”
“You’re right,” I nodded. Although I didn’t think my father–in–law would be that despicable, given Vera’s precedent, I had to be cautious.“I’ll hire a couple of bodyguards to protect me tomorrow. Don’t worry.”
The next afternoon, around four o’clock, I dressed meticulously and went to the Winter family home with two professional bodyguards. My leg had been fine for a day already, but I pretended it wasn’t healed and used a wheelchair. If there was any danger and the two bodyguards couldn’t handle it, I could still use the wheelchair to deceive my enemy and find a chance to escape. My wolf was still filled with worry, “NEVER LET YOUR GUARD DOWN.”
Liam, after much thought at home, called Zane and asked him to find a way to tell Xander that I had gone to the Winter family home. I was hiding at his place to heal my injuries and avoid disturbances. Now that I had gone out, and was going into the lion’s den, he should at least inform Xander. But because of the incident yesterday evening… he felt a little embarrassed to call him.
Zane didn’t understand why he needed to relay this message, but since it was from an elder, he didn’t question it and agreed. He left the assistant’s office and went to Mr. Shaw’s office.
Xander was standing by the window making a phone call. No one knew what was said on the other end that made him laugh. Hearing a knock, he said, “Come in.”

Zane entered, unaware that he was on a call, and said anxiously,“CEO, Secretary Sophia went to the Winter family home.”
Xander’s eyes narrowed imperceptibly. He said, “Let her go if she wants to. Why are you telling
me?”
“Ah, isn’t it…” because you might worry, too. Zane finished the sentence in his mind. Put them he thought it was illogical for Mr. Shaw to worry; this was Secretary Sophia’s private matter.
“Get out.” Xander dismissed him.
Zane immediately scurried out.
Xander picked up his phone again. A hearty male voice chuckled on the other end, teasing, “Who is this Secretary Sophia? A new hire? She sounds like a beauriful omega, and you seem to value her quite a bit.”
Xander replied emotionlessly, “Just a secretary.”
He ended the call after a few words. After standing by the window for a while, he took out his phone and made another call, dispatching his most capable bodyguard to secretly monitor and protect me near the Winter family home.
This troublesome oemga.
…
I arrived at the Winter family home. Coming here again, my feelings were different from any previous visit. Like a tourist spot I’d visited intermittently over the years, this time, I felt it was my last visit. A sense of resignation and release filled me.
Entering the dining room, the table was laden with delicious food, but only Henry was sitting there. Jason and Vera were nowhere to be seen.
