No need to explain too much between smart people..
“Oh, it’s okay, I just wanted to try. You’ve already helped me a lot; I remember your kindness.”
“Don’t mention it; let me tell you, I’ve explained the clothing issue to Xander, but he didn’t react. I got his phone number from Mr. Chou; do you want to try again?”
I considered for a few seconds, then gave up.“Forget it, Kingston Group is not meant for me. Hearing this, Ivy didn’t say anything else.
After hanging up, I went to bed, feeling down. When I’m in a bad mood, my body gets tired as
well.
In a daze, I heard the sound of the door opening.
“Hmm…” I turned over, squinting, and saw Jason standing by the bed, his face frozen.
I didn’t want to talk to him, so I turned over and pulled the covers over my head.
“Have you been sleeping at home all day, without going out?” Jason sat down on the edge of the bed, his tone probing.
I didn’t speak.
“I saw someone who looked like you at the golf course today.”
I suddenly opened my eyes. My wolf was surprised, “HE WENT TO THE GOL COURSE TOO? I DIDN’T NOTICE HIM!”
Heh, how ironic. He and Tanner had put on a “live sex stream” for me, and he still had the nerve to ask if I went out.
I wanted to say, “So what if I did?” But thinking that he might go after Ivy, I remained silent. Jason leaned closer and lifted the corner of the blanket, his gaze falling on my white neck. Seeing no suspicious marks, his expression eased slightly.
But he was still uneasy and insisted on hearing it from me.“Did you go out today?”
“No, I spent the afternoon cleaning the garden. I want to sleep; don’t bother me.” I hated his closeness and pulled the covers over my head again.
Jason saw that I wasn’t lying and stopped.
Night fell.
Xander was having dinner in his penthouse apartment.
Liam Chandler was serving him, pouring chilled red wine into a tall glass. He was Xander’s personal butler, acting as a driver, chef, nanny, and occasionally collaborating with Zane Sullivan, his assistant, to handle some work matters.

“No news from the headhunting agency?” Xander sipped his wine, asking.
“Zane Sullivan just sent a list of candidates, saying he’s waiting for you to take a look and see if there’s anyone you like.”
Liam Chandler replied, then, as if remembering something interesting. “I just opened it to take a look: Ms. Wells, the woman I rear–ended, is on the list.”
“Oh.”
Xander put down his glass.“Get the tablet.”
Although his tone was relaxed, Liam Chandler, who had served him for twenty years, knew that this reaction indicated a significant level of interest.
Liam Chandler went to
the study, retrieved the tablet, and handed it to him.
Xander opened the candidate list.
He had rejected several batches previously. He wanted someone who was skilled in management, had a certain degree of control, had a good image, strong interpersonal skills, and could represent him in dealing with various departments and collaborators, handling both large and small matters a chief secretary.
“Sir, Ms. Wells seems very capable despite her age. In four years at Horizon Group, she rose from a project department employee to project manager.
