Chapter 3
Shortly after I got home. I heard the sound of a car downstairs.
I had just taken off my coat when a tall, hard wall pressed against my back, the werewolf’s strong scent filling my nostrils. His dominant werewolf aura completely engulfed my body, forcing me
to submit to him.
He braced his hands against the wall, leaning down to embrace me from behind.“Angry?”
I didn’t look at him, calmly hanging up my coat first, my tone flat.“I was so angry, I wanted to shift into a wolf and bite your throat out.”
Jason chuckled softly a few times. He fell silent for a moment before speaking again. “The Cooper family is interested in developing the Polaris Project with us. I’ve been in contact with Zane Cooper, their eldest son, for some time. Miss Cooper is his youngest sister.”
“So, are you telling me that as a Head Warrior, you can’t secure this deal unless you stay with his
sister?
…Sophia Wells, I’m explaining myself, don’t be sarcastic!”
“I don’t think there’s a need for an explanation, I finally turned to look at him, my clear, cold eyes: seeming to pierce his soul.“Jason, if you’re tired of me and want to replace the bonded partner of this house, I can step aside.”
Jason’s face immediately darkened. “What are you saying?”
I sighed. I said, we can sever the bond. I pushed him away.
As I tried to leave, he immediately shifted into a wolf, standing in front of firmly on me. Jason’s tail coiled around my thigh and warned, “Don’t even think about it.”

Jason stayed home late into the night, only to be called away by a phone call. I clearly heard a sweet, girlish voice, as if she was crying.
The next morning, my lawyer and friend, who was handling my bonding severance case, sent a screenshot: it was the latest post from Jason’s young girlfriend, a photo taken atop a mountain at dawn, showing a pair of hands, one large and one small, forming a heart. The caption read: “Feeling each other’s heartbeat in the gentle sunrise.”
I immediately recognized Jason’s hand. I sat there, holding my water glass for a long time. When I put it down, the glass made a clear, crisp sound, and it felt as if another piece of my heart had shattered. My wolf had started to gradually accept longer cried out for Jason to fulfill his previous promises. She no longer needed Jason to be her partner.
