Chapter42.
She scoffed. No fun. Death lacks the thrill. Giving that bitch AIDS, making her suffer a living hell… that would be much more interesting.
At that moment, Vera approached.“Tanner, sweetie, let me introduce you to a few people.”
She led Tanner away, whispering, “Did you make it? Did she sign the compensation agreement?”
Tanner paused, then answered confidently, “Of course. I’ll send you the agreement tomorrow.”
“Wonderful, Tanner, you’re amazing.” Vera beamed.
“Nothing much, I just used a little trick. It’s my honor to help you, Auntie.”
“Such a good girl. Soon you’ll be calling me something else.”
“I’ll call you Mom right now!”
They exchanged smiles. Tanner told her wolf no need to worry, “ANYWAY, THAT BITCH IS
WHATEVER IS USELESS NOW!”
DEAD! SO THIS AGREEMENT Op 4
Jason finished socializing with a few friends and stepped out onto the balcony for some air. He lit
a cigarette, took a drag, and then dialed a number.“She’s still at her parents‘ house? She hasn’t even left the house? Alright, I understand.”
He frowned and hung up, finishing his cigarette before returning to the ballroom.
“Jason, help me choose which one is prettier. Mrs. Lin’s pink diamond set is so beautiful, the design is unique. And Mrs. Luis‘ ring is nice too…” Tanner approached, excitedly showing him the auction catalog.
“They’re all nice.”
Jason wasn’t interested, glancing at the catalog dismissively. His eyes drifted off the catalog, then suddenly, his gaze sharpened, and he looked back.
That pink diamond set… it looked so familiar…
“Let me see the catalog.”
“Sure!” Tanner thought he was going to help her choose, happily handing him the catalog.
Jason turned to the page with the pink diamonds. The more he looked, the tighter his frown became. He couldn’t be wrong; this was the complete pink diamond set he’d personally ordered‘ from Italy for our anniversary last year, one–of–a–kind in the world.
How did this jewelry end up with Mrs. Lin?
He couldn’t help but think of the empty jewelry boxes in our closet..
“We have the same taste! I love this pink diamond set too. Mrs. Lin is too old for it,” Tanner chattered, completely oblivious to his grim expression.
Jason couldn’t approach Mrs. Lin with the catalog in this setting. He took a picture of the page and sent it to Sophia, only to find that she’d blocked him.

He tried calling her… her number was also blocked. His wolf couldn’t sense Sophia’s situation either.
His unease spread.“Go ahead and have fun, I have something I need to do.”
“Ah?” Tanner froze, hastily grabbing his arm when she saw him leaving “You can’t leave, tonight is important for us.”
“What’s important?” Jason frowned in confusion.
At that moment, Vera, as the hostess of the charity gala, took the stage to give a speech.“Before we begin the charity auction, I have an announcement to make,” she said, exchanging a look with Mrs. Cooper, then continued in an excited tone, “My son, Jason, the Head Warrior of MoonCloud Pack, is engaged to Miss Tanner Cooper. Tonight, I will bid on the most expensive piece of jewelry as a gift to my future daughter–in–law.”
The ballroom erupted in applause. All eyes were on Jason and Tanner, congratulations echoing through the room. The Cooper and Winter families were delighted. Tanner was so moved that she was close to tears…
Only Jason was stunned, his mind buzzing. His wolf was completely lost, “WHAT ARE THEY TALKING ABOUT?!” When did he say he was getting engaged to Tanner? This was absurd! At the entrance to the banquet hall… a woman in a dark red chiffon gown with a long train, her hair like flowing silk, and a cold, striking makeup stood there. Tall, slender, and curvaceous, she walked in with graceful, swaying steps, the chiffon train and the two dark red ribbons wrapped around her wrists fluttering in the air, like a spreading mist of blood.
Stunningly beautiful. So beautiful that all the ladies in the room paled in comparison. Beautiful… and murderous.
“Sophia!”
