Chapter52.
While they were being interrogated, the Winter Family and Cooper Family’s legal teams arrived at thePack Enforcer station, seeking bail.
Summer had anticipated this; she stayed at the station, fighting them, providing further criminal evidence and materials, and representing the victim, voicing her demands.
In short, that vile Tanner wouldn’t escape punishment. As for Jason… he wouldn’t be leaving before eight o’clock tomorrow morning.
Two in the morning. Summer drove from thePack Enforcer station to my apartment.
I woke up after a few hours, changed out of my red dress, removed my makeup, and started packing my bags.
“I bought some late–night snacks. Let’s eat.”
We sat on the balcony, eating barbecue and drinking beer.
I rubbed my glass, gazing at the stars. “Some people say you should be happy after I be happy?”
I drank the beer in my glass in one gulp, letting out a satisfied sigh.“Yes!”
revenge. Should
Summer watched my clean, beautiful face, watched me smile, and felt a pang of heartache.
This bonding relationship had stripped me of a layer of skin, taken half my life. I finally reached the end, thinking I could say goodbye in my own way, but even this small wish, Jason didn’t grant me. He had to force me to go crazy, to tear everything apart.
“Sophia, in the future… will you still believe in love?”
She asked me, but also because she no longer believed. She was wavering. Does it matter how beautiful, excellent, or good a girl is? Will she ultimately be betrayed and hurt?
I hugged my glass to my chest, gazing at the quiet night.“I can’t deny all the wolves in the world just because I was bitten by one.”
“But, I will be scared, and I will stay far away when it tries to approach me.After all, statistically speaking, I should never meet my fated mate in this lifetime.”
Summer nodded understandingly. In the end, she wouldn’t believe again…
We finished our drinks and huddled in bed, talking for a long time–happy things, sad things, past, present, and future–crying and laughing, until I fell asleep in her arms.
In the morning, I was dressed in a trench coat, pushing my suitcase into the living room.
Summer hugged me.“Go on your trip with peace of mind. Leave the rest to me. Once you get back from your trip and get the bonding severance papers, we’ll be done with him completely.”

“Mm–hmm.”

I nodded. I decided to go on my trip as planned. Leaving everything to Summer felt selfish, but I really needed to escape, no matter where in the world I went.
My flight was at eight o’clock. Summer was going to take me to the airport, but she received a call from thePack Enforcer station saying Jason’s suspicion had been lifted. He would be released in half an hour!
“Sophia, I have an urgent matter. Take a taxi, and be safe.” Summer didn’t tell me what happened. She ruffled my hair, grabbed her bag, and rushed out.
Summer’s wolf’s tone was firm, “JASON! EVEN IF I HAD TO CLING TO HIS LEGS AND SIT ON THE GROUND, I’D DRAG HIM UNTIL EXACTLY EIGHT O’CLOCK!”
I pushed my luggage and left the apartment.
While waiting for a car at the entrance of the apartment complex, an unknown number called. Staring at the phone, my gut told me not to answer…
At that moment, a silver–topped Maybach pulled out of the complex and stopped in front of me. The driver’s window rolled down, and Liam Chandler smiled amiably.“Ms. Wells, where are you going?”
I looked up, surprised for a moment, and answered truthfully, “To the airport.”
“Perfect. We’re going to the airport too. It’s on the way.”
