Chapter55.
A cold, indifferent voice came from across the aisle.
I snapped back to reality. I turned my head, met Xander’s gaze, and my face flushed red. His directness was like a sharp sword, piercing me from the air and throwing me into a frying pan, frying me until crispy and tender, leaving me utterly embarrassed.
“I’m sorry, I won’t do it again.” I lowered my head.
“Hope so.”
He coldly threw out those two words and looked away.
I was extremely embarrassed.
Zane opposite me was also a little awkward. He didn’t understand why the CEO was so displeased. Sophia was just a little absentminded. It wasn’t a big deal. After all, she had just gone through a major life upheaval. It was impossible to completely set it aside.
After a while, the flight attendant came to clear the breakfast and brought coffee. Xander rested for only about ten minutes before starting a video conference.
During the five–hour flight, he was either in meetings, on calls, or reviewing documents. Zane had to constantly report urgent matters that required his personal decision to him, followed by another round of calls and video conferences… The workload was no less than being in the
office.
I waited for Zane to have a free moment and quietly called him over to talk to me about the work arrangement for this trip. I needed to learn quickly in order to keep up with Xander’s work pace. Zane sent me the work arrangement for the next few days. The destination of this business trip was MoonCloud Pack overseas. The main purpose was to inspect the branch company and meet with the various top families and administrative bodies within the pack, and important business partners there.
“This is the first stop. We’ll be inspecting branch companies around the world over the next six months,” Zane whispered.
“Mm–hmm.”
I understood. Xander had recently returned to MoonCloud Pack and took over as the alpha of the Pack and CEO of the group. He would naturally want to establish his authority. He wanted to assert his dominance as Alpha, and the quickest way was to take full control of the Kingston Group, then naturally take over the Pack. Even a lycan prince would have lycans questioning his management abilities. He needed to achieve results, establish authority, and clean up. A new emperor brings a new court, and there are always those who aren’t on the same page.
“Is there

any special reason for choosing Moon Wind Pack as the first stop?” I asked quietly, out of

real estate market in the 1990s, and then ventured into new energy, entertainment, film and television, and the internet sector. It has six listed companies alone. The overseas branch in Moon Wind Pack is a new energy company, and compared to the other overseas branches, it’s neither the largest nor the most prominent. So Xander–no, the CEO–choosing it as the first stop was a little confusing to me.
Zane hesitated.“Uh, nothing special. It’s relatively close.”

My wolf’s mind was filled with question marks, “WHAT KIND OF JOKE WAS THAT? FOR A MAN WHO OWNS A GULFSTREAM G650, HE CAN FLY ANYWHERE EXCEPT THE MOON!”
Zane divided the work for the next few days with me, and whispered, “I could manage the US branch by myself before. Now back at the main company, I’m so busy I wish I could split myself
in two.”
“The CEO is also very picky, making even Uncle Chen, the housekeeper, have to act as a secretary. Now that you’re here, Uncle Chen and I can finally breathe.”
I smiled, a faint dimple appearing on my cheek. Zane was close to me, and my beauty struck him. He finally understood what it meant to be beautiful with or without makeup; without makeup, she was ethereal, and with makeup, she was alluring.
