My face felt like it was on fire.“DID HE MEANI WAS FANTASIZING ABOUT HIM?” My face, flushed crimson, I didn’t know how to respond.
I lowered my head unnaturally, opened the file in front of me, and hurriedly changed the subject.“What do I need to do? I’ll do it now,”
Xander didn’t dwell on the matter. He sat down in the chair opposite me and gave some work instructions. Then he continued his work.

The study fell silent, only the sound of turning papers. For a full hour, I didn’t lift head, focusing intently, to the point of being oblivious… Xander occasionally glanced at me, the corners of his mouth slightly upturned.
Liam came out from the kitchen midway, noticing that no one was around. He wondered why Mr. Shaw hadn’t returned yet after picking someone up. He had no idea Mr. Shaw had brought me to work. Even the most greedy boss wouldn’t exploit injured employees.
He didn’t see us until the food was served. He called.
Five minutes later. Xander pushed me out of the study. I was listless, dazed, and looked timid, as if I wanted to run but didn’t dare.
We came to the dining room. Liam happily pulled out a chair. Xander pushed me towards it, bending down to lift me onto the chair, then hesitantly tilted his head and asked, “If I carry you, you won’t misunderstand, will you?”
His serious tone was clearly teasing.
I wanted to die. Liam didn’t catch the hidden meaning, only thinking Mr. Shaw was extremely gentlemanly.
“Haha, I can sit in the wheelchair,” I smiled stiffly.
“Looks like you’re overthinking again,” Xander said as he straightened up.
I wasn’t! I roared in my heart, only my wolf heard that.
The dinner was exceptionally sumptuous. Liam’s cooking skills surpassed those of a professional chef. I channeled my anger into eating, drinking soup, and eating vegetables, devouring the food with gusto… Xander’s attempts to get some meat were all unsuccessful.
Liam was extremely satisfied seeing me eat so happily. Every cook’s greatest joy is seeing the food they meticulously prepared eaten up. Yet, Mr. Shaw had never shown this enthusiasm.
“Is it that delicious? Here, have another piece; it’s all yours.” Xander gave me the last piece of
meat.
I finally put down my chopsticks and looked up into his smiling eyes. Okay, I seemed to have gone
overboard…

I reluctantly slowed down my eating. Liam served me another bowl of chicken soup. As I thanked him, I generously praised him.“Liam, were you a chef before? Your dishes are so delicious.” Liam beamed. I then asked about how he made the dishes. We chatted quite happily, finally Liam said, “If you enjoy my cooking, come every day.”
“Okay.” I replied, then realized it was wrong.“…I can’t come every day, that would be embarrassing.”
After I finished, a calm voice came, “Don’t be embarrassed.”
I looked at Xander. Hearing Mr. Shaw say this, Liam immediately confirmed, “That’s settled then. I’ll make a few extra dishes every day.”
I was dumbfounded….No, I was just casually chatting; how did we end up agreeing that I would come for dinner every day?
And Xander’s “Don’t be embarrassed” wasn’t a comment about how much I ate, was it?
After dinner. I wanted to leave quickly, but remembering the unfinished work in the study, I negotiated with him.“Mr. Shaw, can I take the work home?”
Xander:“No need.”
He meant I didn’t need to do it anymore, but I heard it as, “You can’t go home until you finish your work.”
