Chapter 101
Giana was dumbfounded.“I couldn’t tell; Kaleb’s mouth was so venomous?”
I lowered my head and reminisced. “He had been drinking at that time.” It was also at that time that Kaleb said he disliked me, saying I was like tasteless plain water, uninteresting and boring.
Giana clenched her fist and angrily said, “I thought he looked more like a babysitter.”
I pursed my lips, feeling increasingly down, whether it was the bad weather, Miya’s words, or seeing on the surveillance footage the side of Kaleb that I didn’t know. Everything was affecting my mood. Giana had always been curious if Kaleb used to watch the surveillance cameras.
The two of us chatted leisurely, and time flew by. It was late at night when Giana was getting ready to leave. Pointing at the surveillance camera, she patted her chest and said, “I can guarantee that in Kaleb’s eyes, this surveillance is not for preventing thieves, but for monitoring you.”
“Don’t talk nonsense,” I handed the umbrella to Giana.“Take it and hurry home while the rain has stopped. It’s late, and your parents will worry.”
Giana touched her face and said, “You should go to bed early too. Don’t think too much and just treat Miya’s words as nonsense. Just listen to it and let it go; don’t worry about it.”
I nodded.
Giana said again, “The day after tomorrow, the university alumni group organized an offline event, and many old classmates went to participate. Take advantage of the May Day holiday; why don’t you come with me and meet the former Stanford University alumni?”
“Stanford alumni?” I wondered.
Giana smiled with her eyes and tugged on my hand, shaking it.“Just come with me, will you? I’m almost 26 years old and I’ve never been in a relationship. I want to see if there are any eligible single men out there.”
I also wanted to take the opportunity during the May Day holiday to relax myself, as a person cannot always work like a perpetual motion machine.
“Okay,” I smiled and agreed.
“It’s settled. I will come to pick you up the day after tomorrow,” Giana said with joy, waving goodbye to me and leaving with an umbrella.
