Chapter 110 

After lunch, I wanted to clean up, but Kaleb took the dishes and utensils from my hands and said, “Aren’t we supposed to go out?” 

1 hesitated for a few seconds and nodded. 

“Work or go play?” Kaleb said, lowering his head to tidy up. 

“Returned to the Drug Development Institute.” 

“Um.” Kaleb carried the bowl and chopsticks into the kitchen.

I watched his figure and then looked at the bag on the sofa, and I actually didn’t feel like going out. I shouldn’t have brought my backpack out, and I definitely shouldn’t have said I was going out. Although Kaleb remained as cold as ever, at least we could exchange a few words and even sit together for lunch, so it wasn’t too awkward. Well, since it has been said, it had to be done. 

I went to the sofa, picked up my backpack, and slowly walked towards the entrance, changing my shoes. I opened the door and looked towards the kitchen. We all had lunch together, and no one helped with the dishes. If someone were to leave without saying anything, it would appear impolite. I hesitated for a few seconds and waved towards the direction of the kitchen, “I’m leaving.” 

There was no response. I exhaled softly, pursed my lips, walked out, and pulled the door to close it. 

“Katrina.” Kaleb’s voice came through. 

Hearing the sound, I quickly pushed open the door and looked at him with my clear big eyes, asking, “What’s wrong?” 

Kaleb handed me a half–filled bag of trash and said,“Take it downstairs.” 

“Okay,” I obediently took it. Kaleb stood still, gazing at me. I looked at the trash, then looked at him, smiled lightly, and slowly closed the door. As the door closed, my heart felt empty, as if half of it was left at home. Not quite real, yet it happened truly and vividly. Suddenly, it was realized that if I had been a little more proactive, Kaleb didn’t seem as cold and difficult to get along with.
