Chapter 111
Meru
The next day, the Stanford Alumni Party was held as scheduled. Under Giana’s persistent persuasion, I reluctantly agreed to go together. On campus, the students had already gone on vacation, and there weren’t many people. There was a banner hanging on the large lawn, which read “4th Anniversary Alumni Reunion for the Class of ’00“. Several long tables were set with simple snacks and mineral water, next to which was the registration area. Balloons and billboards were scattered around, making the whole event look plain and unpretentious.
Most of the attendees were young people, dressed formally and looking bright and glamorous. Giana and I, on the other hand, seemed very casual and, in fact, stood out even more.
The two of us walked to the registration desk, and the male host, upon seeing us, lit up with excitement and a bright smile. “Are you both from the class of 2000?”
Giana and I nodded.
“What is your major?”
“Pharmacology,” Giana replied.
The male host handed over two pens and instructed us to sign on the cloth curtain, saying, “There are quite a few students majoring in Pharmacology.”
Giana looked around and muttered to herself, “I wonder if there are any high–quality men among these single male classmates who are on par with my educational background.”
I chuckled.“Being able to graduate from Stanford University, their abilities can’t be too bad. Just choose someone with good looks and a good character.”
Giana pursed her lips and nodded, holding my hand, and whispered, “And be faithful too.”
“Faithfulness is not something that can be seen from the beginning; it requires time to settle,” I said lightly. Just then, a man wearing a striped shirt walked over, extending his hand and his voice filled with a hint of excitement, “Katrina? I didn’t expect you to be here too.”
I politely shook hands, but my mind was blank, and I awkwardly asked, “Who are you?”
The man felt a bit embarrassed and said, “I studied Economic Management, and I spent three years pursuing you in college, only to be rejected countless times.”
I pursed my lips and smiled lightly, slowly pulling my hand back. There were too many pursuers, and I had long lost
count.
“Katrina, long time no see!” Another man approached, and his eyes fixed on me. “We were in the same department. Do you remember me? We used to attend classes together and even did animal dissection experiments together…” My smile gradually stiffened as more and more men approached me, each one introducing themselves. I could only politely smile and shake hands one by one.
