Giana had long been accustomed to this scene, standing on the side, muttering to herself: There must be some outstanding men in this group.”
Suddenly, a voice broke the awkward silence:“Katrina?”
I looked up and saw a strange man staring at me in surprise. Immediately, another man also approached and politely greeted, “Katrina, hello.”
Giana asked curiously, “Do you know them?”
I shook my head, looking confused.
“Do you remember the last time in the private room at the club, the exotic dance?” the man explained.
Giana and I suddenly realized–it turned out to be Kaleb’s good brothers, Shawn and Marshall. “Are you also graduates from the class of 2000 at Stanford University?” Giana asked in surprise.
Shawn nodded and pointed to a nearby place. “Yeah, we all studied Economic Management, and Kaleb also came.”
I followed his gaze and indeed saw Kaleb’s figure walking away. He was wearing a casual white shirt and black trousers, chatting leisurely with a group of old classmates.
Giana was dumbfounded.“Kaleb was actually in the same school and year as us?”
I was overwhelmed; my mind went blank, as if struck by lightning, shocked and unable to speak. I had been married to Kaleb for two years and had never heard him mention his college.
“He is your husband, and you don’t even know his educational background?” Giana asked in a hushed voice. I was equally confused in my mind. I spent three months dating Kaleb before we got married. We would go out on weekends, have meals, watch movies, visit museums, go to parks, or go hiking. At that time, both of us were very busy, occasionally sending messages and making phone calls. The conversation hardly touched on the past, and Kaleb briefly mentioned his education, saying, “I completed my master’s degree at the University of Oxford in a year and a half, and then I went back to take over the family business.” Kaleb didn’t voluntarily mention his college, and even when he found out that we were classmates, he deliberately concealed it.
At that moment, Shawn extended his hand to Giana and said,“Hello, my name is Shawn.”
Giana forced a faint smile and shook hands, saying, “Giana.”
Marshall also reached out his hand, saying, “Marshall.” Giana touched his hand briefly, quickly pulling it back as if it were burning.
Shawn shouted to Kaleb in the distance, “Kaleb, who did you see coming?”
Kaleb turned around, his gaze falling on me, his eyes slightly darkened.
