It was only eight o’clock. Did Kaleb wake up so early? I walked towards the kitchen. In the kitchen, Kaleb was wearing casual pajama pants and a small apron, his broad and majestic figure bustling around the kitchen. He went to bed late last night too, so how did he wake up so early?

I didn’t greet him and slowly left the kitchen, heading to the balcony laundry room, only to discover that the clothes inside were already in the dryer. The potted night–blooming cereus in the corner has also been watered. I only realized then that Kaleb had noticed the orchid I had been nurturing for two years and guessed that it was my favorite flower.
I took a deep breath and turned back to the living room. Kaleb came out holding two plates of pasta and, upon seeing me, he slightly startled. His gaze fixed on me for several seconds; he cleared his throat and said, “Why don’t you sleep a little longer?”
I used to wake up at six o’clock, but today I slept until eight o’clock.“I’ve had enough sleep,” I replied.
Kaleb put down his chopsticks, took off his apron, and walked into the kitchen. After washing his hands, he came out and pulled out a chair, sitting down. He said softly,“Come and have breakfast.”
I walked over and sat across from him. Every time, it was me who got up early to make breakfast, and we ate separately, one after the other. Today was a rare occasion; Kaleb actually woke up early to make breakfast and even sat down to eat with me.
Kaleb picked up his fork and said,“I don’t have your skills, but I’ll manage to eat.”
I complimented him in a flattering tone, “It must have been delicious, with its appealing color and fragrance.” Kaleb chuckled lightly and didn’t respond. I lowered my head and picked up a vegetable, putting it in my mouth and eating it carefully.
“It was delicious,” I said, swallowing the vegetables, looking at him with a gentle smile. My voice was soft and light, like a pleasant morning breeze. “It seems like there’s nothing you can’t do. As long as you want to do it, you can do it well.”
