Kaleb asked, “Do you want to coax me into getting up early every day to make breakfast for you?”
“No,” I said, slightly nervous, as I lifted my gaze and met his warm gaze once again. In his deep, unfathomable eyes, I could even see a hint of playfulness.
“It’s not impossible either,” Kaleb slowly put down his fork.“You…”
I didn’t know what he wanted to say, so I quickly interrupted, “No need, really.”
Kaleb hesitated for a few seconds, his voice slightly heavy.“Staying up late every day to study, enough sleep?” I pursed my lips with bitterness, lowered my head and looked at the pasta on my plate. My voice was soft yet resolute. “Wasn’t it always like this when we were studying in the past? It’s just a matter of getting used to it.” Kaleb stared at me for a while, didn’t say anything, picked up his fork and continued eating pasta. I quietly began to eat the pasta. The atmosphere, although quiet, lacked the awkward barrier and gained a touch of warmth. Kaleb ate quickly, finished, put down his fork, wiped his mouth with a tissue, and sat watching me eat. I was already nervous, and being looked at by him made me even more uncomfortable. In order to break the silence, I couldn’t help but look up at him and said, “I have always had a question I wanted to ask you.”
Kaleb remained calm and composed.“Ask.”
I curiously asked, “The distance from your home to your company is at least an hour and a half drive. You spend three hours on the road every day. Have you ever considered moving closer to your company?”
