Chapter 146
With a loud bang, the purple clay teapot shattered into pieces, and tea spilled all over the floor. The sudden anger made me tremble. I shrunk my legs and leaned back on the sofa, nervously looking at him.
“Katrina, you have to agree to this even if you don’t want to,” Felipe’s angry eyes were like a raging beast as he roared, “Otherwise, you will no longer be my daughter–in–law, and you must divorce my son immediately.”
I was truly scared, but only by my father–in–law’s terrifying anger, not by the threat of divorce. I had long endured this marriage that was already dead.
Suddenly, the study door was pushed open. I looked nervously towards the door. Kaleb walked in with a calm face, deep and gloomy eyes, and an indescribable aura of coldness surrounding him.
Felipe pointed at Kaleb and commanded, word by word, “You came just in time. If Katrina doesn’t agree, this woman is not worthy of being a part of the Barton family. Divorce her immediately.”
My fingertips trembled and went numb; I hastily picked up my backpack and stood up.“Alright, I agree,” I said. I said my words and turned around to leave.
As we brushed past each other, Kaleb grabbed my arm and said, “What do you agree to?
My chest ached, a sourness surged in my heart, my breathing became erratic. I couldn’t look at him directly and said softly, with a sense of grievance and sadness, “Divorce is possible, but cooperation is absolutely impossible.” Kaleb’s face was extremely dark, and his tone was extremely heavy.“Katrina, it is possible not to cooperate, but divorce is definitely not possible.”
A trace of astonishment swept over my heart; my wrist artery throbbed with pain as I silently gazed at him. Kaleb let go of my arm and said, “Wait for me outside.”
I didn’t respond and quickly left the study, closing the door.
