Chapter 169
Heart rate level monitoring and sleep monitoring were normal. The screenshot was taken last night. The heart rate remained around 70 throughout the night, and the sleep was steady and deep. The periods of light sleep were normal, and there wasn’t a single awakening, let alone any signs of movement.
I looked at these reports; my eyes moistened again, and I felt a little better. It seems that not all of what Leyla said was true. However, what does it prove that he didn’t cheat this time? To remain pure as jade wasn’t for me. He didn’t touch women outside, nor did he touch his wife at home. Wasn’t it another kind of irony?
I covered the documents, walked out of the room, and placed them on the coffee table. I wiped away my tears and glanced at Kaleb’s door, silently bidding farewell in my heart. Letting go of this love would take some time. I was really tired; leaving was only a matter of time. Just let him go. I believed that I would soon be able to let go and no longer feel hurt.
That night, I couldn’t sleep all night.
The next day, at noon. The Barton Group, in the president’s office. Leyla stood nervously and anxiously in front of his desk.
Kaleb finished reading the document, signed it, stacked it in the corner, calmly closed the pen cap, and inserted it into the pen holder. He leaned back on the chair, looked up at Leyla, and said, “Tell me, how did I go from the club to the hotel last night, and how did I end up lying in the same bed with you, completely undressed?”
Leyla pretended to be calm.“I also went to the club last night and coincidentally ran into you. Reilly happened to be absent, and your secretary, Annalise, had left earlier for some reason. So, I had no choice but to take you to a nearby hotel.”
“What happened next?” Kaleb’s cold eyes were icy.
Leyla blushed slightly.“You drank too much, lost control, and pinned me down on the bed. I thought about refusing, but your strength was too strong; I couldn’t push you away at all.”
“Just because of you, can you make me lose control?” Kaleb sneered.
Leyla heard his disdain, her tone mixed with anger. “Just because of me? Three years ago, we met abroad; I was just
a waitress in a restaurant. You fell in love with me at first sight and brought me into the Barton Group’s entertainment company, giving me the best resources and single–handedly making me famous. Wasn’t it because you loved me?”
