Chapter 176
The male colleague remembered seeing him at the entrance of the Drug Development Institute, but I hadn’t introduced him at that time.
“You were…” the male colleague’s words were unfinished.
Kaleb briskly walked up to the couch where I was lying down, crouched down, and observed my condition, breathing slightly heavily. “Her husband, Kaleb.”
“Great, the password matched. My male colleague let out a sigh of relief.“Well then, my task is completed. I‘ leave first.”
As the male colleague walked past Kaleb, Kaleb suddenly stood up, grabbed his arm, with a cold and stern face, and asked, “Why did you bring her to the bar to drink?”
As a man, the male colleague instantly felt his anger and jealousy were all stemming from concern, and quickly explained, “Don’t misunderstand; we had a company gathering, Professor Smith’s birthday today; everyone just left after the gathering, and I also need to go home, otherwise my wife will worry.”
Kaleb slowly let go; his tone softened a bit. “Thanks.”
“No problem.”
“Shall I give you a ride on my way?”
“No need; I took a ride–hailing car,” the male colleague said with a friendly smile, pointing at me. She didn’t drink much, just a few beers, two glasses of red wine, a little bit of white wine. I didn’t expect her alcohol tolerance to be so low.”
Kaleb nodded. The male colleague bid farewell and left the private room.
Kaleb gazed at me, sleeping on the sofa, with deep and mysterious eyes. I was petite and delicate, with my long hair loosely tied up on my head. The dim lighting cast a shadow on my rosy face. I wore a thin white shirt and apricot–colored trousers, with my slender and fair feet exposed in my small white shoes. The body was slender and exquisitely proportioned. With a beautiful appearance and an attractive figure, I would have been doomed if I’d encountered any malicious man tonight.
Kaleb walked over to me with a stern face, feeling a tightness in his chest. He bent down and lifted me up in his arms. Lighter and softer than he had imagined. He jolted and embraced my entire body in his arms, walking briskly out.
