I enjoyed being in the kitchen atmosphere with him. Kaleb put the fruits away, closed the refrigerator door, and took out his phone to search for a pizza recipe. He looked carefully and thought it would be difficult, but it turned out to be super easy. I was washing the vegetables. Kaleb took out a large plate, washed his hands, and prepared to knead glutinous rice flour. He proportionally mixed, not knowing if he added too much water, and his hands became sticky with paste.
“Katrina, help me pull up my sleeve,” Kaleb extended his arm. My body slightly stiffened; I turned to look at him, my eyes sparkling like stars, somewhat taken aback. Kaleb waved his arm in front of me, “Pull it.”
“Oh!” I realized: my heart skipped a beat, my breathing became erratic, and my face felt hot. He just called me Katrina very gently. There was no last name, no distance, just a natural and effortless feeling. I nervously swallowed my saliva, wiped the water off my hands with a tissue, and gently pulled up his sleeve. His arm muscles were strong and felt firm, giving a strong sense of power.
Seeing his long fingers covered in dough, I chuckled softly and said, “Do you want me to help you add some flour?”
“Needed, too clingy.”

I carefully poured flour into his plate as he turned his head to look at my face. His eyes gradually warmed up; gaze moved from the side of my face, skimmed over my delicate cheeks, rosy lips, and finally landed on my fair neck. The ambiguous air flow pervaded. He moved his Adam’s apple, his breathing became heavy; he withdrew his
gaze, lowered his head, and started rubbing his face. The batter started to take shape, but Kaleb was absent–minded.
I washed the side dishes and picked up the white radish to prepare peeling and shredding. Kaleb’s hoarse voice suddenly said, “There’s something, I figured it out.”
I stopped peeling and looked up at him, “What’s the matter?”
“At night, let’s sleep together,” he said in a deep tone, with a hint of passion.
I stood still like I had been struck by a needle, my heart pounding like a drum, my face burning hot, frozen and unable to move.
