Chapter 219
Kaleb didn’t expect me to throw the question back at him. He turned to look at me for a moment and then continued to drive attentively. My retort clearly catered to him. He needed an answer, and I gave him the answer. The answer may not necessarily be true. This question became meaningless.
The vehicle drove along a secluded mountain road, and the lush bushes were adorned with twinkling atmosphere lights, giving a feeling of intruding into a starry galaxy. Wow, it was so beautiful! The night view was so romantic. I looked out of the window and was captivated by the scenery in front of me.
“Weren’t we going home?” I asked curiously.
“We ate out tonight.”
“Oh!” I felt a little excited in my heart. It had been two years since I had last had a meal alone with Kaleb. Maybe it was a little far from home. Or perhaps it was already late in the day, and he had become hungry, not wanting to go home and cook. No matter the reason for taking me out to eat, I was happy.
The vehicle parked in an empty square. I got off the car and saw ahead a brightly lit, quaint architecture, standing gracefully amidst a large bamboo forest. The bamboo forest was lit up with romantic atmosphere lights, making it beautiful and refreshing.
Kaleb got off the car and came to my side, “Let’s
go inside.”
“The evenings here are so beautiful!” My soft voice was filled with joy, and I was in a good mood. I walked alongside Kaleb into the room. Walking through the winding path filled with bamboo groves, I gazed at the scattered lights, and the further I went, the more festive atmosphere there was.
Kaleb whispered, “The bamboo shoots here were very tender and delicious. I had come to eat them with friends before, and I had always wanted to bring you here to try them.”
I’turned my head to look at him, feeling a slight surprise in my heart. I noticed a loophole in his statement and asked in response, “Have you always been thinking about it?”
