Chapter 221
The manager greeted us, made tea for us, arranged the tableware, and asked, “Mr. Barton, can the dishes be served
now?”
“You can go up now.”
“Okay.” The manager exited the private room.
I exhaled softly, feeling a bit warm, my heart still not steady. Kaleb handed me a cup of tea, “This is bamboo tea; it has anti–inflammatory and cooling effects. Try it and see if you like it.”
“Okay.” I took it with both hands and whispered softly, “Thank you.”
The teacup was very small, and my fingertips touched Kaleb’s slender fingers, causing my heart to flutter again. My breath was a little hot, so I decided to have a sip of bamboo tea to cool down. I lowered my head and took a sip; the fragrance was refreshing and sweet, and it moistened my throat, making me feel very comfortable. “It was delicious.” I finished drinking the bamboo tea and set down the cup. Kaleb filled my teacup again. “Thank you,” I blushed slightly, too shy to look at him. I felt that he seemed to intentionally alleviate the cold relationship between us.
“On the first day, how was the business at the exhibition?” Kaleb asked about the event. I just remembered to thank
him.
I said, with a mischievous tone, “Thank you, Mr. Barton, for introducing us to so many clients.”
Kaleb smiled lightly and asked, “Has everything been settled?”
“No, but still, thank you.”
“Just a thank you?” he raised an eyebrow, playfully asking.
I hesitated for a few seconds and said sincerely, “How about this meal, I’ll treat you.”
Kaleb shook his head, “No, that’s not possible.”
I looked up at him and said, “If the customers you introduced sign the contract, I will give you a share.”
Kaleb frowned and lightly touched the cup with his fingertips, showing a hint of helplessness. “Do I look like I’m short of money?”
I pursed my lips awkwardly, hesitated for a few seconds, and curiously asked, “So, what do you lack?”
