Kaleb’s eyes darkened suddenly, as he stared straight into my clear and lively eyes. His fingers on the cup’s body froze, as if they had been acupunctured. His expression was a bit stiff, and I thought I had said something wrong. I felt a little anxious and picked up my cup, lowering my head to drink water.
At that moment, the waiter brought the dishes to the table. Because it was Kaleb who had pre–ordered the dishes, I didn’t know what they were. When all the dishes were served, I realized that they were all my favorites. Exquisite plating, with colors that looked mouthwatering and made one’s fingers itch.
Kaleb picked up my empty bowl and filled it with soup,“Eat it while it’s hot.”
“Thank you,” I said, my stomach growling, as I picked up the fork and started eating. The roasted squab was fragrant, with crispy skin and tender meat. The bamboo shoots were very tender, crisp, and fragrant. The dish made with bamboo shoots was even more delicious and tasty. The vegetables were sweet, tender, and smooth. And there were delicious desserts. I ate to my heart’s content, my face beaming with a satisfied and happy smile.
Kaleb used to eat with elegance and composure, watching me eat while a smile gradually appeared on the corners of his mouth.
“Katrina,” he whispered softly.
I took a sip of soup, pursed my lips, and looked up at him, “Hmm?”
“Do you like the environment and dishes here?”
“Liked.”
“We used to come here often,” he said, his voice gentle like water.
My heart trembled, and it took a while for me to recover from the excitement in my heart. With a sweet smile, I nodded happily. It was a long–lost sweet smile. Kaleb was engrossed in what he was seeing and couldn’t help but curl his lips inwardly, his eyes burning with intensity.
