Kaleb knelt down on one knee, took out my slippers, and reached out to take off my white casual shoes. I quickly drew back my feet, avoiding his touch. My voice, affected by alcohol, was muddled and soft, I’ll change by myself, I’m not drunk, don’t touch me…” I bent down, my voice lazy,“My shoes are dirty…”
Kaleb froze for a few seconds, took out his slippers and put them on, then turned around and closed the door. As he turned around, I had already changed my shoes and entered the living room, my footsteps floating, swaying as I fell onto the sofa.
Kaleb put the shoes I took off and his own shoes into the shoe cabinet and pressed the disinfection button. He entered the living room, took off his coat, and immediately went into the room to wash his hands. Afterwards, he came out with a disinfectant wipe in his hand.
Kaleb sat on the sofa and pulled the slumped me up, leaning me against his shoulder. Looking at my flushed face, he couldn’t help but smile warmly, gently wiping my hand with his.
“Don’t take a shower tonight, wash in the morning?” Kaleb gently wiped my fair fingers and softly advised.
I leaned back on the couch, gazing at him with hazy eyes, and lazily asked, “Why?”
“I was afraid that you would drown in the bathtub.”
I chuckled lightly and my weak, limp hand, like a willow branch, gently flicked, “I wasn’t drunk.”
Kaleb caught my other hand and switched to another clean disinfectant wipe, continuing to wipe.
“I will give you a foot bath later; you should go to bed early,” Kaleb lowered his head, looking at my hand, his movements gentle and his tone light. “Your alcohol tolerance is really low; you shouldn’t drink anymore in the future.”
“Okay,” I obediently responded, stood up, and walked unsteadily forward.
Kaleb looked up at me and asked, “Where did you go?”
“Go back to the room and sleep,” I slurred in response.
“Come back.”
I turned back and stood by Kaleb’s feet, like a well–behaved top student, my body soft and ready to fall at any moment, my eyes shining like a clear spring, pure and captivating, tugging at the heartstrings.
“I brought a basin of water for you to soak your feet; you sit down first,” Kaleb said, as he was about to get up, I
turned around and sat down.
