His hand left my fair and plump body, and he buttoned up the just–unfastened button for me again. He carried me back to the room. That night, it was destined to be another sleepless night of torment for him.
The next day, I slowly woke up from my sleep, rubbed my eyes, and squinted towards the balcony. The curtains were drawn, and the bright light from outside shone through the gaps in the curtains. The light, shining brightly and dazzling, didn’t seem like morning.
I nervously got up and picked up the phone on the bedside table to check the time. Oh my God! It was already 11:30 in the morning. Why didn’t the alarm clock ring? I lifted the covers and got out of bed, only to realize that there were no slippers on the floor. I was still wearing the clothes from yesterday.
I sat quietly for a few seconds. Thoughts gradually became clear. Yesterday, I went to a medical conference with Kaleb and had dinner with the hospital leaders. I vaguely remembered having had some drinks in the restaurant, and I fell asleep, exhausted, leaning on Kaleb’s arm. After that, I blacked out. Probably got drunk again and was taken home by Kaleb.
I scratched my head, covered my face, took a deep breath, and felt extremely frustrated. What if I had bad alcohol taste and embarrassed myself in front of him?
With an anxious heart, I got up to get clean clothes and went to the bathroom to freshen up. I took a shower and also washed my hair. While standing in front of the mirror blow–drying my hair, I noticed a shallow red patch below my earlobe on my neck. I reached out and touched it; it didn’t feel like a mosquito bite, and there was no itchiness or pain. How did it turn red in a small area?
I didn’t care about it! I blow–dried my hair, tied up my long hair, and put on my going–out clothes before I left the house. Outside the living room, it remained clean and tidy as always. What is different is that all the household chores that belong to me have already been done, and there is still breakfast on the table.
