Chapter 239
At night, the lights were on in the Drug Development Institute. In the laboratory, I wore a white robe, a mask, and sat in front of a one–way glass mirror, observing the situation inside the large cage. The two monkeys finally felt
- it.
Giana picked up her bag and walked over to me.“Let’s go home; aren’t there still cameras watching us?”
I stared intently at the monkey inside the one–way glass. “The camera has captured them doing it several times, but the female monkey just can’t get pregnant. This time, I’m going to check if it has actually ejaculated inside her. It’s always better to be thorough.”
“Well, you take your time to read; I’m off work.”
“Okay, tomorrow is the weekend; rest well.”
“Goodbye!” Giana stepped out of the laboratory with light and brisk footsteps. Walking through the corridor, she pushed open the door and her footsteps paused as she looked at Kaleb walking not far away.
After the incident with Annalise, Giana still had some reservations towards Kaleb. She thought he would hold a grudge against her because of Annalise. I didn’t expect the man’s smile to be quite gentle and polite. “Giana, Katrina hasn’t finished work yet? Kaleb walked up to her and asked politely.
Giana pushed the door open and made way for him. ‘She’s inside the 6th experimental room, watching two monkeys causing trouble. It’ll probably take a while. You can either wait at the door or come inside and wait.” Kaleb passed by her, ‘I went in to wait.”
Giana turned her head and shouted, “Hey, Kaleb!”
Kaleb stopped in his tracks, turned around to look at her, his eyes also gentle.
“The last time’s matter…”
“It was Annalise who was wrong,” Kaleb interrupted, “Don’t worry about it.”
Giana, who was originally kind–hearted, happily and generously waved her hand when she heard him say that. “I’m not that petty. I’m just worried that because of that incident with that pick–me girl, you might be angry with Katrina.”
“What does ‘pick–me girl‘ mean?” Kaleb was slightly confused.
Giana shook her head with a smile, feeling quite emotional inside. No wonder he didn’t know how to avoid suspicion; he didn’t know what “pick–me girl” was.
Giana said, “It is internet slang. It describes some girls who always become close with men in the name of brotherhood, have a great time, but don’t understand boundaries, or intentionally create intimacy, causing misunderstandings with the men’s partners.”
