Chapter 25
Then, he whispered softly, “Katrina, doing this kind of work will hurt your delicate hands. Don’t do it again in the future, okay?”
I calmed down a bit. With anger burning in my heart, I snapped harshly, “Roy, behave yourself and stay away from me, please.”
Roy raised an eyebrow and sneered, saying in a soft and gentle voice, “I can tell that Kaleb doesn’t treat you well, even colder than a stranger. You’re so beautiful, so outstanding, and so gentle. Do you know how many men like you? Why do you have to endure all of this?”
I clenched my fists and glared at him angrily, snapping again,“Please get aside.”
Roy, however, didn’t retreat but instead advanced. His scorching breath sprayed on my cheeks as he whispered hoarsely, “Katrina, I don’t mind your two years of marriage with Kaleb. Why don’t you choose to be with me instead? I can guarantee that I will treat you thousands of times better than him. I will never neglect you, nor will I even take, a glance at other women.”
I was always a traditional woman, so Roy’s actions made me feel extremely disgusted. Even if all the other men in the world died, I would not choose to be with my husband’s cousin.
“Get away!”
I exerted all my strength and pushed his palm towards Roy’s chest. As a result, Roy took two steps back. Taking this chance, I hurriedly walked past him, wanting to escape. But just after I took a few steps, I suddenly froze in place.
I saw Kaleb standing at the door, leaning against the wall with his hands in his pockets. He had been watching all of this happening calmly.
I felt nothing but humiliation and anger when I was harassed by Roy. But my husband, on the other hand, watched me being harassed by another man without any reaction, neither helping nor stopping it. How did he manage to be so heartless?
At this moment, the pain in my heart was so intense, making me feel suffocated. I was filled with unprecedented despair and sorrow. I really wanted to find a place where no one was around and cry out.
I lowered my head, my eyes filled with tears. I bit my lower lip tightly as I strode past Kaleb. After leaving the villa, I walked towards the deserted field in the village. Kaleb’s indifference made me realize once again that his past gentleness was just his disguise. This marriage was a complete and utter deception from the very beginning.
