Chapter 50
“It’s hard to hail one now. If you are busy, you can drop me off at the subway station,” Annalise walked directly to the passenger seat, opened the door, and sat inside.
Kaleb sat in the driver’s seat, fastened his seatbelt, and turned his head to look at her. “Aren’t you being too clingy
to me?”
Annalise proudly revealed a smile and said, “We are friends. Don’t be so mean.”
“Why didn’t Shawn and Marshall stick to me?”
Annalise was very proud. “They became your friends only in college, but I have been your childhood playmate. Can it be the same?” She had a bunch of twisted reasoning. Kaleb was too lazy to argue with her, and he started the car and left the villa.
I ran out of Elegance Heights and stood on the main road, waiting for a taxi. At this moment, a familiar luxury car stopped in front of me. I was slightly startled. The car window slid down, revealing Annalise’s seemingly cheerful and harmless smile. She waved her hand to greet me, saying, “Katrina.”
On the driver’s side, Kaleb leaned over and looked at me outside the window. “Get in the car. I’ll take you.”
I tightly gripped the backpack strap, feeling extremely upset. They were really inseparable! They went on a trip together. Kaleb even brought Annalise along with him for work. The passenger seat in Kaleb’s car had become Annalise’s exclusive seat. His wife, however, seemed more like a guest.
I also wanted to be generous, have an open mind, and approach things with a calm attitude. Unless I didn’t love Kaleb, I couldn’t manage to let it go.
“No, thank you.” I took a few steps to the side and went to the back of the car to continue waiting for a taxi. Then, I took out my phone to check for nearby ride–hailing cars. The estimated price was too high.
At this moment, a cool motorcycle came speeding and stopped in front of me. The man took off his mask, revealing a handsome and mischievous smile. His eyes were burning with intensity and surprise.“Katrina, what are you doing here?”
I was surprised. It was Roy.
“Danna came back from the countryside, and I came to see her.”
“Where to? I’ll give you a ride,” Roy picked up another helmet and handed it to me.
I hesitated. It was against ethical morals for Roy to have feelings for me, and I should have kept my distance. But the woman in Kaleb’s car made me feel uncomfortable. Kaleb was constantly involved in scandals, being intimate with Annalise. Why should I have to compromise myself and adhere to the traditional role of a wife?
I took over Roy’s helmet and asked, “Can you take me to the subway entrance?”
Roy’s eyebrows curved, with a smile on his face.“Of course.”
