Miya was indignant. “So, I wanted to take her to catch the affair, to let her see with her own eyes whether it was me making things up or if her husband had already betrayed her.”
Giana was so frustrated that she crossed her arms, took a deep breath, and was speechless. Miya ran over and grabbed my hand again.“Speak up, Katrina. Why aren’t you saying anything? Why are you afraid to come with me to catch the cheater?”
My body was shaken, and my footsteps became increasingly unsteady. I chose not to believe, but I still felt aching all over my body, so much so that I didn’t want to speak. Subconsciously, there was fear, fear that everything Miya said was true.
The more indifferent I was, the angrier Miya became. She felt like a clown going crazy, desperately trying to prove something, even though he wasn’t her husband. Through gritted teeth, she angrily rebuked, “Katrina, I really hate people like you. What gives you the right? Just because you’re a little prettier than us, during college, so many guys pursued you. What gives you the right to be so aloof and not even look at them, yet still be seen as a pure goddess in their eyes, untouchable and unattainable?”
“Why on earth do you think you can?” Miya shouted, filled with jealousy, anger, and unwillingness, causing her to lose control.“We graduated and became unemployed, so what makes you think you can graduate and start a company? What makes you think you can marry into a wealthy family despite coming from a rural background? A woman like you, who is cold, proud, and introverted, should be neglected by her husband, cheated on, and abandoned.”
Giana pushed Miya, causing her to fall to the ground. “Miya, have you gone crazy? There is a limit to being outspoken. Do you have some serious illness?”
Miya got up and pointed at me mercilessly. “She is the one who is seriously ill; she has been deceiving herself. Kaleb pursued Leyla for three years, but Leyla prioritized her career and didn’t want to get married. Kaleb turned around and married a woman who looks very similar to Leyla; she is just a substitute for Leyla.”
I endured the pain of a broken heart and lifted my damp eyes to look at Miya.
