Chapter 19
“Louis. I love you, I really do! But I can’t get kicked out of the Moore family…”
Rachel’s tears spilled down her cheeks as she turned and ran away.
Watching her disappear, Louis felt like his heart had shattered.
He finally understood why Rachel had refused to go public with their relationship all these years. In her eyes, being a Moore had always mattered
more.
He didn’t even know how he made it back home. Everything seemed pointless now.
He drew himself in alcohol, completely lifeless.
His friends kept coming by to check on him, but nothing they said got through. It was like alcohol was the only thing left that could help him escape reality.
His buddies sat around him, whispering amongst themselves.
“It’s been a month. What’s wrong with Louis? Never seen him like this before.”
“Think it’s because of Rachel? Word is she’s getting engaged soon–some family arrangement. Maybe that’s why he’s drinking himself stupid?”
“Doesn’t make sense though. If Louis really wanted to stop it, he could’ve just used his position to pressure her family. His dad would cave, right?”
“You guys think it might be because of… you know…”
The question hung in the air, but everyone knew whose name they were avoiding.
They didn’t dare say it aloud. Whenever they mentioned her name, Louis would lose it. The last time he’d smashed bottles everywhere with eyes bloodshot, screaming at them to get the fuck out.
They lowered their voices further.
“But Louis always treated her like a stepping stone. No way he care about her, right?”
“Something’s seriously off though. Rachel’s called him several times and he’s never picked up.”
“Gotta be Rachel, right? I heard she doesn’t actually want to be with Louis.”
They kept speculating, but nobody knew the answer. Not even Louis himself could tell whether it was about his sister or Cersei.
When he truly realized that the sister he’d loved for years valued her status more than him, something shattered inside him.
And then Cersei’s face kept appearing in his mind.
Their marriage had faced plenty of criticism.
Everyone knew Cersei had chased after him for seven years, and even after three years of marriage, he’d never touched her once. Yet Cersei ha always been unaffected by the gossip.
Only during this month of misery did he truly understand what losing Cersei meant.
Every day, memories of their life together flooded back.
She’d been right here in this house–making him breakfast, caring for him, sleeping beside him. She’d depended on him completely.
Her eyes had always been filled with tiny stars. Even when he treated her coldly, she’d remained resilient.

Chapter 19
But now she was gone. And the sister he’d chased for years didn’t even love him.
He felt ridiculous, only now realizing who had truly cared for him all along.
Alcohol was his only escape, his desperate attempt to numb the pain.
But whether awake or in his drunken haze, Cersei dominated his thoughts. She was a fucking obsession, a weight on his heart that kept him sinking
into misery.
Her final words in New York haunted him: she didn’t love him anymore.
How had it come to this?
He couldn’t help but roar in anguish, smashing his bottle. A storm of emotions tangled in his heart, threatening to drive him mad.
Ignoring his friends‘ attempts to stop him, he destroyed everything within reach until his hand touched the wedding photo on the wall.
It was the only photo they had together. The only thing Cersei hadn’t thrown away.
He’d always hated this wedding photo, believing the most prominent spot should display a picture of him with Rachel.
But now, this photo finally broke him.
His hand clutched the frame tightly as he stood there, tormented by indecision.
His friends realized his internal struggle, finally spoke up.
“Louis, man, if you want to go after Cersei, just do it. She’s a good girl.”
Louis froze, then asked in a confused whisper.
“Would she forgive me?”
