Chapter 22
“She loved you so much she stayed in New York for three years with no plans to leave. I thought I had no chance with her and was ready to give up. But then you and Rachel started sneaking around behind her back and broke her heart. You lost her all by yourself, Louis.”
Harvey clenched his fists, his face cold with rage.
“This is between me and Cersei! Get out of my way!”
Harvey didn’t budge, positioning himself in front of Cersei,
“She’s not just my sister anymore–she’s my fiancée. Louis Moore, who the hell do you think you are? You hurt her and now you come begging for forgiveness? What, do you think she’s just your fucking toy?”
Louis’s face turned to ice, his anger reaching boiling point.
Who was Harvey to judge him like this? What did he know about anything?
“Let me tell you who I am. I’m Cersei’s husband. I’m her lover. We were in love for three years! We’re the ones who belong together. We’re going to get married, have children and live a lifetime of happiness. We will…”
“ENOUGH, LOUIS!”
Cersei cut him off sharply.
She looked up, her eyes filled with mocking disbelief.
“We’re done. You have no fucking right to be with me. Did you ever think about my feelings when you were with your sister? And now you want to talk about spending a lifetime together?”
Her words stabbed into his heart like a knife, extinguishing all his fight.
The man who’d been arguing so fiercely suddenly turned pale. He set aside all his pride and dignity, tears welling in his eyes as he begged.
“Cersei, it’s my fault. I know I messed up. Don’t be so cruel to me. You still love me, right? I can change, I’ll make it up to you… I’ll never be with Rachel again.”
Cersei lowered her eyes, her expression neither sad nor happy, delivering the most painful blow.
“Besides, Harvey is a good man. Better than you. I like him.”
Something collapsed inside Louis. He stared in disbelief, color draining from his face.
His pitiful eyes searched Cersei’s face, desperate for some sign of hope.
But she simply took Harvey’s hand and walked past him toward the door.
In that moment, he stood frozen, unable to move.
Only when he heard cars starting outside did he let out an anguished cry, covering his face as tears streamed down.
Once Cersei and Harvey were in the car, Harvey’s stern expression instantly melted away. His eyes sparkled as he leaned close to her.
“Cersei, did you really mean what you said back there?”
Cersei knew exactly what he meant. But she pretended not to understand, scooting away a bit.
“Mean what?”
Harvey wasn’t giving up, moving closer again.

Chapter 22
“That I’m a good man. That you like me.”
Cersei couldn’t help smiling. She hadn’t said it to hurt Louis. She genuinely had fallen for Harvey during this time.
Unlike Louis, Harvey always put her first. Maybe it was because of age, or perhaps their personalities, but Harvey never let her feel neglected or hurt.
Even when they’d confessed to their parents, he’d taken all the blame himself.
Their confession hadn’t been as easy as Harvey made it sound.
Like all wealthy families, the Blanchels initially forbade such a relationship. Harvey had knelt outside their door for three days and nights before their parents finally relented.
The price he paid was steep. He was kicked out of the Blanchel family. All the businesses he had taken over had to be returned, and he couldn’t keep a single penny.
These harsh terms would be unacceptable to most young men accustomed to a privileged life.
But Harvey had agreed without hesitation. He’d even seemed relieved that this was all it would take to be with her.
It had been pouring rain that day. Harvey’s face was deathly pale, but his eyes were fixed only on her.
“Cersei, I promised I would never let you suffer
That was the moment Cersei completely fell for Harvey.
