Chapter 45
Third–person perspective
Today is the day of contract signing.
As a representative of the cooperating company, Jerry arrived late and only made his appearance at ten o’clock.
Not only was he late, but he was also dressed in a trendy style.
In his arms, he held a newborn baby girl.
“Apologies for being a few minutes late, my daughter needed to breastfeed,” Jerry greeted the people in the room with a bow.
His face not only carried a polite demeanor but also showed a sense of pride.
After speaking, he cradled the baby in his arms and, with one hand, took out the contract to read.
It seemed that the baby might be feeling uncomfortable as she squirmed and cried.
Immediately, Jerry put the contract aside and gently comforted his daughter.
Ryder, sitting across from him, observed his attitude and expression, clearly showing impatience. “With a big family like yours, can’t you afford to hire someone to take care of the child?” he questioned.
Upon hearing this remark, Jerry didn’t feel embarrassed, but rather reproached, “You are also a father, can you not allow me to fully experience the joy of being a father?”
The word “father” surprised Ryder, who took a while to respond.
Even though he was a father himself.
He had never really cared much about Eva.
At first, it was because of his busy work schedule that he didn’t have time. Later, as the child grew up, every time she saw her, she would avoid him.

In this life, Ryder owed no one, except for the neglect towards that child.
“To be honest, even if it’s just for the sake of the child, you and Hannah shouldn’t separate,” Jerry continued advising after signing the contract.
“She’s your own child. After leaving the family, who else will treat her sincerely? Aren’t you afraid she will end up in a pitiable situation?”
“What’s the point of saying all this after the divorce?” He replied in frustration.
“Even after a divorce, you can remarry.”
“It’s because she knew she could remarry that Hannah dared to divorce so openly.”
As Jerry finished his words, Robert, standing beside them, chimed in.
He clenched his phone tightly and then threw it onto the chair next to him.
“Take a look, right now, Hannah has posted an explanation about her relationship with Thomas on her social media page, stating that they are just friends and she has always considered Thomas as her younger brother!”
Hearing him say that, Jerry quickly opened his phone.
Indeed, Hannah had posted an explanation with Thomas‘ name attached to it.
“I’m sure tonight at the corporate party, Hannah will definitely try to participate and find a way to reconcile with Ryder, then propose remarriage,” Robert said.
In Robert’s eyes, despite the rumors surrounding Hannah and Thomas, her ultimate goal was to provoke Ryder and then remarry.
“If she can do that, she won’t miss any chance,” Jerry looked intently towards Ryder and then firmly grasped his shoulder, “No matter how clever she is, in marriage, she’s the one who always fulfills her duty.”
Perhaps influenced by Robert’s words, the next day at the business party, all of Ryder’s close friends
were present.
In addition to Williams, Jerry, and Robert, there were two people from abroad who hurried back.

Chapter 45
As predicted, Hannah showed up at the party!
Today, she was lightly and elegantly made up, looking charming and adorable.
Her knee–length white dress covered her slender, fair legs, and the high–heeled shoes of the same
color accentuated her delicate and graceful feet.
Being too thin, she looked fragile like a gentle willow, evoking the desire to protect her.
On her beautiful face, she had light makeup, making her look cute and in need of care.
Robert shook his head contemptuously, “What did I said? In thirty seconds, she’ll definitely come to find Ryder.”
He spoke with a sneering laugh.
Ryder kept his head down, drinking his alcohol.
Though he didn’t say anything, when he saw Hannah approaching him, he put down his glass.
Keen observers could notice that this time he didn’t come with Cathy, as he usually did.
Everyone at the party saw Hannah walking up to Ryder, and they all acted as if they understood,
waiting to see what would happen.
Naturally, Ryder raised his chin a bit.
He wanted to see how Hannah would apologize for the mistakes of the past!
“I’ve been waiting for you for a long time,” perhaps due to the outfit Hannah wore today, she seemed
so gentle and pitiable.
Ryder coldly snorted, “If you’re not sincerely apologizing, then…!”
He didn’t finish speaking before he saw Hannah going straight to another man!
Was she not coming to see him?

The man I met was named Ryder.
He was none other than Fredrica’s fiance.
Of course, he was also a close friend of mine.
Friendship among the three of us had long surpassed the level of mere friends; it was stronger than
family ties.
So, when we talked, there was a certain intimacy in our eyes.
I was eagerly waiting to meet Ryder and didn’t even notice Ryder’s presence.
Ryder must have felt abandoned.
“It’s a bit noisy here, let’s find somewhere else to talk,” Ryder suggested. We both walked away side by side.
Even though we didn’t hold hands, the distance between us and our intimacy was enough to create
an illusion.
Ryder didn’t know what had happened to him.
He held his hand so tightly that he didn’t realize he had shattered the glass.
He didn’t lower his head until the broken glass cut into his skin and he felt the pain.
“Ah, you’re hurt!” A pair of hands reached out and grabbed Ryder’s hand.
“How could you be so careless?”
