Chapter 31: Lake Cabin
Saint Valentine was executed today. Have some chocolates. – Priscilla
Kevin had called training early because it was Friday before Valentine’s Day. He knew better than to wait until the last minute to do something for his wife of fifteen years. It only took him fourteen years to learn that.
Taz unlocked the door to their room and flipped on the lights. In the center of the bed
was a large mixed flower bouquet with a red envelope laying on the corner of the bed. She picked it up and pulled out the card.
On the front was a beautiful sunset over a mountain lake. Inside was a poem that was at
least twelve layers of cheesiness. Riffraff must have agreed because he wrote gag at the
bottom. On the blank side of the card was a note in his handwriting.
Pack a bag for us and be ready to go by two. Your Valentine, Riff
It was just after one now. Suddenly, Kevin telling her to go get a shower and not to worry
about weights made more sense. Taz was in and out of the shower in less than 30
minutes. Using his backpack, she packed them a weekend bag. In the middle of the bag
was the small box that held a motorcycle bell and hanger. It had a Guardian Angel on a
bike carved on it. Along the bottom it gave the advice Never ride faster than your Guardian Angel can fly.
Riffraff was engraved on the inside. Her initials were on the clicker.
“You seem to be in deep thought.” Riffraff said from behind her.
“Trying to figure out where we’re going.”
“Away.” He said with a grin and a kiss. “Let me grab a shower and we’ll leave.”
Twenty minutes later, they were riding out of the compound with her wrapped around him. Around six they stopped at a little café for dinner. They were nearly ready to leave when several members from the local MC walked in. A man with a black crew cut and dark
eyes approached them. His dark skin was deeply tanned from time on his bike. He stood about Taz’s height and had a bit of a middle–aged gut.
“You belong to Toad?” the man asked. Above his chaplain patch was the name Padre.

“Yes. We’ll be at the lake this weekend and will be leaving on Sunday.” Riffraff confirmed as another man walked up.
The younger version had dark brown hair that touched his shoulders and caramel eyes that were focused on Taz. Watching the enforcer that was named Thug, Riffraff put his arm around her shoulders and she leaned into him.
“You’re a lucky man to have the Devil.” He smiled at them. “I’ve got tickets for next weekend.”
“Thanks.” Taz said uncomfortably, she still was not used to being recognized.
“I guess I’m lost.” Padre admitted.
Riffraff smiled at him. “My girl is an MMA fighter. She recently signed with Bellator.”
“She’s the one we were talking about the other night. The one that they call the Tasmanian Devil.”
“Really?” Padre asked looking at her.
“Yeah. I spin around my opponent and since my name is Jasmine, I became Taz.” She explained, just as she had been told to.
“Can I get a picture?” Thug asked pulling out his phone.
“Yeah, I guess.” She said remembering what both Priscilla and the Bellator rep had told her. Public opinion was just as important, if not more than rankings and wins. She stood up and posed with him as Padre snapped a picture. Riffraff snapped a few also.
Shrugging his shoulders, he messed with his phone. “Priscilla would want a copy for all your social media accounts.” At Priscilla’s instructions, he got Thug’s information and
also sent the when and where. He then asked her not to post it until they were headed
back. He didn’t want their weekend to be ruined by people wanting pictures and
autographs, which was happening more and more.
