Chapter 34: Break Up
The scabby hoor. – Nessie
“I think we need to quit seeing each other.” Riffraff said quietly once they were in his
room.
“Why?” Taz asked surprised.
“This, whatever this is between us, is not going to last.” He explained.
“What the hell, Riff?” she asked raising her voice slightly. “Where is this coming from?”
“Let’s just say that I realized something today.”
“That fucking bimbo.” Taz said as she left the room, slamming the door behind her. She ignored the looks from the men that were in the hall as she made her way to the stairs.
“Hey, darlin‘. You okay?” Nessie asked as she met Taz in the hallway leading to the gym.
Nessie was Toad’s niece from Scotland who arrived in January and took over the kitchen.
Taz knew that Knuckles was crushing on her. But didn’t know if anything had come of it.
The shorter woman gently guided Taz to the office just off the kitchen. The upset woman
sat in the office chair behind the desk and gave into the tears that threatened. Nessie
smoothed down the blonde and rainbow hair as large strong arms wrapped around her.
She spoke softly in Gaelic as her friend’s body shook. Nessie found her phone on the desk
and sent a message to her uncle.
The door quietly opened and Toad looked at the woman who looked just like his wife did twenty something years ago. Flame red hair that was curly and currently pulled back in a ponytail that hung just below her shoulders. Bright sapphire blue eyes shimmered with tears that threatened to fall. A light spattering of freckles covered her pert nose and full
cheeks. Full heart shaped lips were currently pressed into a thin line.
She wore a bright pink t–shirt that proclaimed she refused to adult today. Denim shorts showed off her long legs that ended in a pair of well worn tennis shoes. Shrugging her shoulders at her uncle, he saw the new wrapping indicating that she had been to see Ink.
Toad nodded his head and stepped back out of the office. He met Knuckles on the stairs.

Chapter 34: Break Up
“Have you seen Taz? Some of the guys said she seemed upset.”
“She’s in the office with Nessie.” Toad said shaking his head. “I’ve never seen her like this. Do you think that the interview went bad?”
“Trevor woke me up for it.” Knuckles said leaning against the railing. “It sounded like it went good. They even invited her back.”
“Let’s go see if Riff knows anything.” Toad suggested as he started back up the stairs, leaving the younger man to follow.
“You don’t think that they had a fight, do you?” Knuckles asked as they approached
Riffraff’s door.
“I hope not.” Toad admitted as he knocked on the door. A moment later the door opened and the man inside the room looked like he had his heart ripped out. “It was bound to
happen sooner or later. What was the fight about?”
“What fight?” he asked stepping back letting the two men in the room.
“The one that has both you and Taz miserable.” Knuckles said closing the door behind
him.
“We didn’t fight.” Riffraff sat on the end of the bed. “I ended it.”
The other two men stared at him in utter confusion.
“What the fuck?” Knuckles stepped closer with his fists balling up.
Toad stepped in between the two men. “Go help Nessie with Taz.”
Angrily, he left the room and headed downstairs to the office. Knocking before he entered,
the door opened and he found Nessie sitting on the corner of the desk. Taz had a beer sitting in front of her. Before she could do something that she would regret he grabbed the bottle and took a drink. Nessie laughed at his confused look.
“Root beer. It keeps everyone from shoving a beer in her hands.”
He knelt down in front of the desk and turned the chair to face him. He brushed the tears
away with his thumbs. He pulled her down and kissed her forehead as he had done so
many times before.

“Tell me who I need to beat up.”
“Some fucking bimbo at the radio station.” Taz said quietly.
He stood up and pulled her to her feet. Leaning against him, her tears started all over.
