Chapter 58: Toast–1
Till Valhalla, brothers. – Tank
Master Joshua sat in his oversized office chair, his clean–cut head was lowered, his cheek resting on the top of Evie’s head. Bright blue eyes flicked to the door and he smiled at his wife. He wore a blue pinstripe oxford shirt that a perfectly manicured hand clutched.
In her lap sat a gray marble urn, held by her other hand. A silent sob racked her body. Maya sat the bottle and shot glasses down on the massive mahogany desk. She started to reach out to touch the formerly perfectly coiffed hair. Her husband shook his head slightly and she nodded in understanding.
Joshua was too focused on the woman in his lap to wonder why the other two doms were in his office. He was vaguely aware that Maya murmured something and they went to sit on his couch. She placed herself on the couch between them, in a perfect submissive pose.
There was no jealousy when Tank reached over and caressed her hair, silently showing his approval. Ink handed her the drink and the shifting of the ice was the only sound they
made.
“I know that you do.” Joshua said in response to something Evie whispered against his chest. “I miss ‘em. I can’t imagine how you feel.”
He strained to hear the next thing that she said. “I know. It was like you completed each
other.”
Evie shifted and this time, they could hear her voice, if not the words.
“The same day?” he asked and she nodded. He pressed a kiss to the top of her head and fought back tears of his own as she spoke softly. “That’s where it should be, love. They should be together. Babies with their daddies. Do your parents know that you were
pregnant?”
This time she shook her head no and buried her face back in his chest. His arms instinctively tightened around her. He watched out of the corner of his eye as Ink took the glass of juice while Tank pulled Maya into his lap. Ink brushed tears away with his
thumbs.
She herself had lost a baby just last year. Her hand rested on her rounded belly. Joshua

was glad that they had friends like them.
It was several more minutes before she spoke again. This time it was loud enough for the others to barely hear her. “I miss being a sub.”
“You’re a natural sub, love. You need a dom. Or in your case, two.” He glanced at his wife; the little minx knew what she was doing bringing those two to his office. They had shared a sub a year or so ago and had enjoyed it, had wished for it to continue. But she had opted to return to her home town once graduating.
Today might not be the time to introduce her to new doms. But it was a good time to place the idea in the two men’s heads. From the look that they exchanged; Joshua knew
that the idea had taken root.
“I would feel like I’m cheating.” She whispered.
“Moving on and letting go, doesn’t mean that you have to forget. Or that you’re cheating on their memory. All it means, is that you’re healing. They would not want you to spend the rest of your life mourning them.” Joshua advised.
He gave a little chuckle. “They would want you to find a new master, if for no other reason, then for you to eat. What have you been eating?”
Evie looked up at him with red rimmed eyes and red cheeks. “Cereal.”
“What else?” he asked and she looked away from him. He forced her to look at him with a gentle touch on her jaw. “Would it help if I made you a menu?”

“Yeah.” She admitted.
“I’m not your master. But I do love you, little one. You know that, right?” he waited for her to confirm this. “All you have to do is ask. I’ll give you whatever you need. Well, almost. I refuse to have sex with you.”
“That would be a little weird.” She agreed.
“That would be a whole lot weird.” He corrected. “I watched you grow up. Thought of you
kids as my own. Hell, your parents and I got into a huge fight over you going to the club
when you were still in high school. But your mom was right. You needed to know the
difference between submission and slavery.”
“I’m glad mom recognized me as a sub and told me it was not a bad thing. I guess I never
realized before that she was one also.”
“That’s because your mom ruled over you kids.”
“What did your mom say?” they both quoted at the same time.
They sat in silence for a moment and then she quietly asked, “Joshua, will it ever quit hurting?”
“No, it won’t.” Joshua said, his own heartache coming through. “June fifteenth is always
hard for me. But I can get out of bed now. I no longer hide all day. It’s still a dull ache.”
“I took off all week.” Evie admitted.
“It’s still rather fresh. And it was sudden. I knew Janie was dying. We knew it as soon as the doctor said inoperable brain cancer. Still treasure my memories. Wouldn’t trade any of
them for anything else. Not even the bad ones.”
“I hate waking up alone. One of them was always there. Now it’s just me.”
“And Scruffles.” Joshua pointed out.
“Yes, like a good sub, I am a servant to my cat.” She said with a little humor. “Daniel thought about going K9. But a spot in motorcycle opened up.” She smiled.

“Your cop was one of the good guys.” He agreed. “And could roll one hell of a joint.”
“No, not my men.” Evie said with mock surprise.
“I snuck in a bottle of scotch.” Joshua motioned to the bottle on his desk. “I was hoping you’d come by and we could toast them.”
“I couldn’t be alone anymore.” She whispered. “And I couldn’t deal with Daniel’s mom today.”
“You’re welcome here anytime.” He told her. “Just make sure you bring the twang. I miss hearing home.”
“Right now, home is full of crying babies. The twins are teething, two of the triplets have colic and the other one cries because it seems to be the thing to do.”
“We’ll have that soon enough.”
Ink had walked over and was taking the urn out of her lap. “Just going to sit them over here, so that we can all drink to them.” He carefully sat the urn on the desk and noticed the silver collar. She was a beautiful woman, one that would look good wearing a collar.
Pushing those thoughts aside, Ink poured six shots. He handed one to Tank, Joshua and Evie. He then told Maya that she would have to toast with her juice. Taking his glass, he left the other two by the urn. Tank and Ink had both served, Tank in the Army and Ink in the Air Force. Seeking the same type of brotherhood after the service, they had found the Saints.
They both knew widows who were left behind and vowed to themselves to reach out. Once everyone else moved on, it was easy to forget the ones in the background. But here, they could see the pain and anguish that lived on. They did not die in their military uniforms. But they still died in service to their community.
