Chapter 60: Masters Meeting
She’s special. – Joshua
Thursday afternoon Joshua called Evie to check on her. He had planned on calling her later, but after talking with Dixie, he called her sooner.
When he had called, she was having lunch with Ink at the Cookie Jar Café. She sounded good. Relaxed. Happy.
Things that he had not heard in her voice for years.
Then she had laughed. An honest laugh.
As soon as he had ended the call, Joshua messaged both men and scheduled for them both to come in. The club was just gearing up to open and they would not be interrupted.
Joshua sat down behind his desk and looked at the two men. Ink was a little smaller than Tank. They both lived up to their names. One was covered in ink, and the other built like
a tank.
“How is she?”
“She was good when I dropped her off.” Ink said and at cocked eyebrow he answered the unasked question. “Just before I headed over here. She’s a natural on a bike.”
“Quit bragging.” Tank smirked.
“You’ll find out tomorrow.” Ink pointed out.
“And what’s happening tomorrow?” Joshua asked.
“I’m taking her to dinner.” Tank said. “I want to check out the new pizza place. The one that cooks them in the wood burning oven.”
“OK, listen. Yesterday was the third anniversary of the day both her husbands died. She hasn’t dated since then. I’m pretty sure that yesterday was the first time that she was
back in a club.”
“I’m not talking to you as fellow masters. I’m talking to you as her godfather. She lost so

very much that day. She lost Daniel. Cade. The baby. And…”
“Herself.” Ink supplied and Joshua nodded.
“We know.” Tank added. “We talked a lot last night.”
“We even told her about Ashley. I know it’s nothing like what she lost. But she was the closest we ever got to collaring a sub.” Ink said. “I also told her about Shay.”
“Shay?” Joshua asked.
“My girlfriend that died while I was in the air force. She asphyxiated.”
“She’s the reason why we don’t use ropes.” Tank added.
Joshua nodded. He found himself wondering why he did not know about this. Later, when he pulled both of their membership packets, he would find it there in Ink’s hard no’s. Asphyxiation, ropes, hard choking and reason given: death of previous partner.
“Were you there?” Joshua asked before he could stop himself.
“No, sir. She was home on leave and had tied herself up to masturbate. They were unable to determine if she slipped and then passed out or passed out and then slipped. But she
ended up in such a position that she could not save herself.”
“Were you her Dom?”
“I was. I often think that if I had just told her that she could not masturbate, then she
would still be alive. But she was home for a month and I am not a cruel Dom.”
“I know you’re not.” Joshua said with a sigh as he considered his next words. “Evie, she’s broken. She has only been with Daniel and Cade in a serious relationship of any kind.
Daniel was the Dom that trained her at the club. Her brother doesn’t know that they had
a relationship when she was just out of high school.”
He leaned back in his chair and looked at the two men. “There’s seventeen years between
Law and Evie. When Daniel came home from the navy, her parents asked for a huge favor.
Train her with no sex.”
“How….?” Tank asked.

“He didn’t. When she came home from college to do her student teaching, he and Cade had reconnected. She was at the club one night and was actually approached first by Cade. Then Daniel came over and they had their first night together.”
“I’m not telling you this to make you jealous, but so that you understand. They had never stayed all night with a playmate, had never taken one home, never went back for
seconds.”
“They did with her.” Ink surmised.
Joshua nodded. “With the three of them, it all just fell into place. Everything clicked. Even
before they collared her, it was known they were together. That one night and all three
wanted more.”
Tank and Ink looked at each other.
“You know exactly what I’m talking about.”
“Yeah.” Ink said looking back at the older man. “She felt right between us. Like she
belonged there.”
“We want her there again.” Tank added and Ink grunted in agreement. “Often.”
“Be careful with her.” The two men were told. “Be patient with her. She’s still putting herself back together.”
“We know.” Tank said. “And we told her that we were there for her when she was ready.”
“You should know,” Joshua warned with a smile and humor in his voice, “she doesn’t share. And she’s possessive. So, if you plan on pursuing her, stay away from other subs.”
“There’s a story?” Ink asked.
“There’s a few. At least one involving a Glock .45 pistol. I believe that a shot gun was used once. Or at least threatened to be used. She is still a Texas girl. And Cade’s dad is an MC president. She can handle her own.”
“Twenty–one jerk salute.” Ink laughed.
“Yeah.” Joshua started laughing. “She told me about that. You should probably let her
know that Little Mark is Tank’s brother.”

“Fuck. She’s the teacher he has the crush on?”
“Your brother has good taste.” Ink smirked. “Too bad he’ll never know how good she feels in his arms.”
“He better not.”
“She prefers older, wiser and more experienced. Compared to them, you two are young.”
“She is the settling down type, isn’t she?” Ink asked.
“She’s definitely the settling down type. She wants a big house and huge yard and lots of babies. Her parents had six, her and Katie are the only ones without kids. Law has two grown sons, the girls all have younger kids. If you don’t think that you can give her that, walk away. I can tell you that she’s conflicted right now. Part of her is ready to move on.‘
“Part of her feels guilty for wanting to move on.” Tank supplied.
“Very much so. Just promise me that ya’ll will be careful with her.”
“Joshua, you have our word, we will treat her like the treasure she is.” Ink said and Tank
agreed.
