The moment the reporter saw the test results, his brow furrowed slightly.
Before he could ask questions, Mom leaned in and whispered something in his ear. Instantly, his expression darkened.]
When the reporter looked back at me, his eyes were filled with cold disgust.
Even though I’d expected this reaction, my heart still ached seeing it.[]
His response only confirmed what I already knew–I truly was a despicable person who deserved this treatment.[]
After hearing what my mother said, the reporter backed away from me like I was carrying a deadly plague.[]
He turned to the other journalists and bystanders, raising his voice. “This is clearly a private family matter that we shouldn’t interfere with.“]]
“Her parents and husband are all OB–GYN specialists. Three medical professionals wouldn’t collectively misdiagnose a fetus.“]]
“Besides, if there was a genuine legal issue, it would have been resolved at the police station.“]]
This involves an unborn child–let’s not sensationalize tragedy or meddle in something we don’t understand.“]]
This
With that, he signaled his team to leave, casting one final hateful glance in my direction.
The other journalists seemed confused, particularly those hoping for a headline–worthy story.
But seeing how decidedly the first reporter had withdrawn, they hesitated.
They seemed to realize that whatever truth lay behind this story might be something they couldn’t publish anyway.
The crowd quickly dispersed.]]
Though we stood on an empty street, a crushing weight of despair pressed down on me, making me wish I could die right there.]
But I’d already died once before–what was there that I couldn’t survive?
Mom, seeing my pained expression, cursed under her breath and slapped my already swollen face.[]
“Who are you putting on this pathetic act for?“]
You know exactly what kind of trash you are!“]
I forced a smile through cracked lips and said through gritted teeth, “I’ll abort the baby,”
1: you never want to see me again, we can cut ties now. I’ll disappear from your lives forever.”
They exchanged glances.
But my concession wasn’t enough for them.]
Jake’s face remained dark. “Just getting rid of the baby isn’t sufficient.“]
“So I have to die?” I looked up, tears welling in my eyes.]
This time Jake avoided my gaze. After all, we had loved each other for years–hearing me ask such a question gave him pause.[]
But to my shock, the person who didn’t hesitate was my father–the man who had once treasured me above all else.
Your existence makes all of us sick,” he said coldly
1dn’t respond. Instead, I scheduled an abortion right in front of them]
“After the procedure, Il leave America. You’ll never have to see me again for the rest of your lives.
“Just pretend I’m dead
Without waiting for their response, I took a taxi to another hospital
The procedure was quick. Throughout it all, I felt nothing–no sadness, no grief. I just lay there, emotionally numb, feeling unclean.
Chapter 5
As if the baby’s blood was still on me.[]
I felt so disgusted with myself that I couldn’t bear to rest in the hospital bed.[]
I checked out early, planning to shower at a hotel before leaving here as soon as possible]
But I never made it out of the hospital. Just outside, someone covered my mouth and dragged me into a dark alley
1 struggled briefly, but having just undergone surgery, I was too weak to fight off several men
“She just had an abortion–she smells awful. I can’t do this,” one of them muttered
“What do you mean you can’t? Don’t you want to get paid?“)
“These shameless women are the most exciting ones
They started tearing at my clothes, I closed my eyes in agony, completely giving up the fight.[]
So this was their plan all along–even when I chose to leave, they wouldn’t let me live.
Just when I thought this life was about to end like this way as well, a woman suddenly appeared and went straight for those men with a club. []
