The Billionaire’s Sudden Bride
Chapter 133
Summer’s POV
“Why not?” I said.
“You’re saying you don’t mind going to Victoria and Alexander’s wedding?” Anna’s voice dripped with disbelief as she leaned across the small café table. “The guy was your fiancé! Don’t you hate them? Don’t you want him back?”
I stared into my lime water, watching the slice bob up and down.
“Honestly? No,” I replied, meeting her gaze. “I’ve realized Victoria and Alexander actually deserve each other.”
Anna’s nails tapped against the marble tabletop, her scars standing out starkly against her pale complexion–two angry red lines that would never fade.
“I don’t get you,” she said. “How can you be so… calm about this?”
A flicker of surprise crossed my face before I settled into something more serene. What I didn’t say was that I’d found someone infinitely better. Brandon had shown me what it meant to be truly loved.
“Well, well, look who it is.”
I turned to find Ruby standing there, arms crossed, Scarlett slightly behind her.
“Huh, seems like you didn’t learn your lesson, Anna. Looking to cause more trouble?” Ruby’s tone could have frozen hell itself.
Anna tensed. “What’s that supposed to mean, Ruby?”
“Oh, I think you know exactly what I mean.” Ruby stepped closer. “If you try anything against Summer again, I’ll be the first in line to make you regret it.”
“Whoa, Ruby, stop!” I jumped in, grabbing her arm. “Anna’s not doing anything wrong. We literally just bumped into each other and started talking.”
I shot Scarlett a desperate look, silently pleading for backup.
“Come on, Ruby, Scarlett said smoothly. “Look at us–three against one. What could she possibly do? Besides, weren’t we supposed to be shopping today?”
Ruby hesitated but finally relented with an eye roll.
I turned back to Anna. “Miss Watson, I think we’ve said everything that needs saying. From my perspective, we’re even. Whatever’s going off between you and Victoria has nothing to do with me.”
Anna didn’t respond, just stared down at her cup. As we walked away I glanced back. She remained frozen in place, only moving when her phone rang–presumably her mother.
Outside the coffee shop.
“I can’t believe you were actually sitting there having coffee with Anna Watson!” Ruby exclaimed as we strolled through the shopping center. “After what she did to you? Have you forgotten about the snake?”
Ruby,” I sighed, “sometimes it’s better to just… Jet things go.”

Chapter 133)
“Let things go?” Ruby stopped walking. “Summer, that girl tried to kill you!”
“She didn’t, though, I corrected. She admitted she arranged to have me locked in the bathroom, but claims she had no idea about
the snake.”
Both Ruby and Scarlett stared at me in shock.
“Wait, she actually told you that?” Scarlett asked,
I nodded. “Yeah. And honestly? I believe her. She seemed genuinely horrified about the snake part. Plus, I think something happened between her and Victoria.”
Ruby snorted. “Of course something happened. You didn’t see what went down after Brandon took you to the hospital that night.”
My interest piqued immediately. “What do you mean?
Ruby and Scarlett exchanged a loaded glance.
“We saw Brandon had his people took Anna away through the security camera.” Ruby explained. “And Victoria? That bitch didn’t lift a finger. Just pretended she didn’t even know Anna, watched her get dragged off without saying a word.”
I processed this information, my mind fixating on Anna’s scars. “Wait, so after I passed out, Anna was… taken somewhere? Those scars on her face–did Brandon have something to do with that?”
Ruby’s eyes widened. Her head whipped around quickly. “Wow, this place is packed today, isn’t it, Scarlett?”
“Totally!” Scarlett jumped in, too enthusiastically. “Weekend crowds, you know how it is. Should we check out that new boutique?*
“Guys, I interrupted, “you’re not exactly subtle with the topic change.”
Both looked sheepish, but neither offered any further information. I sighed, deciding to ask Brandon.
The bedroom was bathed in soft lamplight when I broached the subject with Brandon later that night. He’d just stepped out of the shower, droplets of water still clinging to his hair.
“I ran into Anna Watson today,” I said casually, sitting cross–legged on our bed, my nightgown riding up slightly over my thighs.
Brandon paused for just a fraction of a second, his eyes darkening with something I couldn’t quite place. “Did you?” he replied, his tone deceptively neutral as he crossed the room toward me, his presence filling the space.
“Mmhmm,” I confirmed, fidgeting with the hem of my nightgown. “She has these scars on her face now. Two of the Ruby mentioned something about her being taken away the night of the snake incident. I just―”
His hand was on me before I could finish, sliding up my thigh with a slow, deliberate pressure that made my breath catch. His fingers Brushed the edge of my panties, teasing the sensitive skin there, and I swallowed hard Brandon,” I started, my voice wavering, “I’m trying to talk about something serious here.”
“I’m listening,” he said, but his hand betrayed his lie. It slipped higher, pushing my nightgown up to my hips, and then his fingers were inside my panties, brushing against the damp heat of my core. My thighs clenched instinctively, and I grabbed his wrist, though my grip was weak.
“Stop it,” I protested, but the word came out more like a plea. His thumb found my clit, rubbing slow, torturous circles, and a sharp pulse of pleasure shot through me.
I forced myself to stay focused. “Brandon, seriously. Did you have something to do with Anna’s scars? I know she had me locked in that bathroom, but a woman’s face is so important. You didn’t- oh fuck!”
