Chapter 7
Chapter 7
I was about to deny it when Shawn added playfully, “I saw what happened when I was upstairs!”
I let out a self–deprecating chuckle. “We’re getting a divorce.”
Shawn, who knew how much I loved Eanes, was stunned for a moment when he heard the word “divorce“.
However, it lasted only for a second. He quickly regained his usual composure and didn’t pry further. Instead, he changed the subject.
Just as we were chatting, my phone chimed with a WhatsApp notification from Yasmine. It was a photo of Eanes resting his head on her shoulder, eyes closed, as if asleep.
To say I felt nothing would be a lie, but more than sadness, just felt a tightness in my chest.
Yasmine’s intent was obvious. Not only was she showing off, but she also tested my limits and provoked me into losing my composure in front of Eanes.
But I wasn’t playing along this time. I replied, “If he’s tired, let him sleep. Take good care of him.”
Yasmine deleted the photo not long after. But it didn’t matter. I had already taken a screenshot.
I then asked my lawyer to draft a divorce agreement before I called Eanes‘ parents.
I informed them that we were proceeding with a divorce. Since the news about Eanes and Yasmine had already gone viral online, they were aware of the situation. Knowing they had no excuse, they apologized on his behalf.
However, Eanes called as soon as I hung up. He sounded displeased as he demanded, “Why did you drag my parents into this? I never realized how shameless you could be!
“It’s one thing to fight with me, but snitching to my parents? Do you not know your limits? Do you have any idea how mad they are at me because of you?
“You’re blowing a small issue way out of proportion. Don’t you know how exhausted I am? Can’t you be more understanding? Do you really have to push me to the edge before you’re satisfied?”
His voice was full of accusations.
“This was an arranged marriage. Divorce naturally involves informing both families,” I replied calmly. “I’m not making a scene–I’m serious. This is the best choice for both of us. My lawyer has already drafted the divorce papers. Come sign them when you have time.”
Eanes‘ voice trembled with suppressed rage, and he almost broke into a sob at those words. In the end, he roared, ” Go through with it if you dare!”
I felt nothing. Just like Eanes had done countless times before, I responded indifferently, “I’ll be waiting.” I hung up right after.
But Eanes kept calling me. Frustrated, I switched my phone to silent mode and set it aside.
It wasn’t until 9:00 pm that I picked it up again and saw 45 missed calls and countless messages.
I found it ridiculous as I looked at the notification on my screen. In the past three years, Eanes hadn’t called me this
many times altogether, let alone sent this many messages. I was always the one who reached out.
On my way home, I made sure to bring the divorce agreement with me.
Since the house was under Eanes‘ name, I packed up all my belongings. My suitcases were nearly ready by the time Eanes rushed back.

Seeing the packed bags, he panickedly lunged forward to hold me, only for me to push him away.
“What exactly do you want? I… I only went to Yasmine because she was sick and alone. That’s all. From now on, I’ll reject her. Please don’t-”
He reached out to snatch my suitcase from my hands. However, I sidestepped, dodging his grip.
What was the point of saying all this now?
